yes, but you, like anyone, are speaking from a pov; and it is dangerous--even fatal--to assume that your pov is sacrosanct.

the best thing one might read all year; #3 or 4 (or 5) speaks to the title of this post.

i don't blame anyone for finding themselves in a cult. But being presented with evidence that you might be in one, and ignoring it, will not serve you.

THERE IT IS!
Please be careful not to judge the gospel that saves as a cult.

Where the evidence that I'm "might be" in a cult?
Not even Jesus insinuated that anyone was in a "cult" without "...the mouth of two
witnesses or three." Nevertheless, when He judged, it was righteous judgment.
"Come share His life with me, receive eternity...".

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
again, with the supreme assurance? then again i will say that this attitude is fatal, imo. But i also understand that it is due to having been trained to instill a sense of--false, to me--"assurance," in parishoners.
I have presented evidence that you might be in a cult, which you haven't rebutted. But i hope you understand that it is not my business where you are concerned--i only need to determine whether I am in a cult or not; and was merely making a general suggestion for others to do so. And Christ made plenty of references; we are just trained that we, naturally being the Special Chosen, need only apply those verses to others, because we--or should i say "you," as i am prolly excluded from those lofty heights, now--have discovered that pearl of great price; Superiority.
I am overjoyed to share life with anyone willing to boldly proclaim the Words of Christ, from the pulpit, "Count the cost," and "Every inch of skin will be stripped from you," to potential converts. Do you preach this?
And again, i am not meaning to blame anyone; that is pointless. You are just the one brave enough to engage me. I don't equate 'sin unto death' with 'going to hell,' necessarily...i honestly don't know there. So i might pat their hands, too, in your position. It is what it is.
Speaking to the thread title: you would be surrounded by your real family, your 'loved ones,' in the afterlife; and the question is asked from vanity, and the desire to retain your worldly clique, which Christ has already advised you to abandon. Being curious about such things indicates, possibly, that your eyes are still focused on worldly things. Change your mind.
And don't misunderstand, i was as curious as anyone about this--it is just apparent now that the question will be moot then; for the reasons above, and also because your afterlife is going to be so completely outside your present experience. You will be made out of light! "Love" will have a completely different meaning to you (and wadr will not include "codependent preoccupation with worldly sources").

If your doctrines are erroneous, it is because your gospel is in error.
Understand this: if your doctrine is not the foundation of the apostles and prophets, then
Jesus Christ cannot be your chief cornerstone.
If you truly love the Lord Jesus, you will obey His commandments through the
apostles and prophets..

Re: will you know your loved ones in heaven
well, amen to that. Just for the record, they didn't preach any of those red-letter things i mentioned in my congregation this morning, either i mean, let's admit that the Apostles experienced the true Church, direct from Christ, which has been doctrinized at our remove, and that is what you are working with. You don't counsel believers that to truly follow Christ, one must needs leave everything they hold dear and set out on the road afoot, with not even a spare pair of sandals...and no one else does, either, that i can find.
what i mean to suggest is a different way to approach salvation--rather than the wide way, in which we seek a pastor to reassure us that we are accepted, because we have adhered to some rituals. Better to assume that there are improvements that could be made in our walk, and take for granted that those verses we apply to others are meant for ourselves. This will cause a complete change in the "i am assured of my salvation, and since that guy doesn't do _____, he must be in a cult" mentality so prevalent in our churches that people feel comfortable asking if they will recognize their clique in heaven.
