BrotherKodak,
I think they should take the "casting lots" idea into the 21st century and have a computer generated slot machine set of reels projected on big screens at GC.
The three nominees names would be alternated on each wheel an equal amount of times.
The current GC would then pull a giant lever to start the computerized slot machine reels spinning. He would keep pulling that lever until the name of the new GS appeared on all three reels, centerline!
In case this takes some time you could kill two birds with one stone by taking up that big offering that usually takes an hour or so at the same time.

Not at all. They select men from among them of good report who they feel could lead. Then each man receiving at least three nominations is placed in the "lot" and one is randomly selected (believing God will be done).

Also, it ensures that the local church leadership is chosen from within the local church - not a stranger with a silver tongue.

That wouldn't work because then someone would think that the slots are rigged.
