I agree that a person of principle can "fellowship" (and by that, I mean being friendly toward and sharing a meal from time to time) with those who do not agree with his or her stance, but they shouldn't PRETEND to agree with the other person at the risk of compromising their own principles.
Nor should they endorse that person in a manner that would cause others to question their viewpoints, such as having someone from another faith sit on the platform in full fellowship (and by that, I mean being involved in a position of leadership, influence, or authority) because that would indicate to the congregation and any other observers that one was supporting an opposing viewpoint.
Lengthy, but hopefully, I made myself clear.
Thank you Mike for clearing that up for me, not that you had to
I to agree with Elder up to that point.

No problem!
Frankly, that's why I resigned the church I was pastoring and turned in my UPC license.......just couldn't agree with the ideaology any more......hard for me to pretend to be excited about something that I'm not.....or to pretend to agree with something that I don't.

I have a couple of friends who turned in their licenses for the same reason. They both felt as they were preaching a lie because they did not believe it.
We came out like most do hurt and confused but we had started questioning what was being preached across the pulpit. It did not even start with our own Pastor it started with Brother Stoneking and his infatuation with angels and that opened us to thinking and that started us to studying and then the bottom fell out. God has been so faithful to us and we have seen His hand on us from the very morning we left.

We dont agree on a lot of things like the Godhead and what constitutes salvation but thank you for saying this.
Lee Stoneking is preaching damnable heresy and folks are losing thier faith over it.

Mr. Phelps you are still misdirecting what it means to "fellowship" someone...as used by Elder Epley. AND YOU KNOW IT.
I dont know what AreYouReady knows on the subject but you really need to explain what you mean when you use that word.
Thanks for bringing that up Ferd. I was under the impression that "fellowship" meant enjoying friendship and meals together with another believer of a different denominational belief.
I should have realized that Elder Epley has his own definitions. .
That being said, I would no more want my sister, who is a Marian, speak at any Apostolic ladies meeting about the wonders of Mary.
Or my brother, who is an atheist, speak about how there is no Creator God.
However, I will say that I cannot judge another person who loves Jesus and worships Him, to say that they are going to hell. I will leave all that up to our righteous God.

Yep they are not stupid. Strawmen. I have meals and interactions with folks from every walk of life. Folks say I am friendly(I hope I am)? But I would never in a million years have a Trinitarian on our platform or give them the false impression they are saved believing a lie.
So, you know that there are absolutely no lies in your belief system???
Jesus reserved his rebukes for the religious leaders of his day, their pride and arrogance, and abuse of the folks, did not make Him very happy!!
It is very good to have conviction and doctrinical views, but a bit of humility, and to know that one could be wrong on a great many things just might go a long way with the servant God, Jesus Christ, that came to seek and to save the lost, in which He will not fail. He saves to the uttermost!!

Yep the guy who just murdered all those kids will be saved according to you.

The very title of this thread is a lie. I'm sure Epley is just trolling, pulling someone's leg.
