I eat healthy high fiber like whole grains, small whole fruits etc. I do not eat sugar on a regular basis, only on occasion. I added Chia seeds to my salads and sandwiches for extra fiber and health benefits. I add a Fiber One drink packet to my water every day for extra fiber too.

Basically the Sonoma Diet says to look at your plate in 3rds. One third should be healthy veggies, one third should be a low fat protein, and one third should be a whole grain item. When you have a casserole, you just try to balance out what might not be in the casserole.

When we eat out or at other's houses, I just make sure I eat a big salad and then a small portion of what they are serving. I make sure I go out and splurge every couple of weeks on something that is forbidden. ;-)
What are Chia seeds?

I have been on a diet for months and lost around 20 lbs and many more to go.

One thing is nothing after 7:30 and no white sugar, white flour, white rice. Lots of water and fiber. Instead of 3 large meals, 6 small meals to keep your motabilism going.

Seeds from a Chia plant?? That's my guess. They look like poppy seeds. Back in the old days, when I watched TV, they had commercials about Chia pets that grew "hair." You "planted" the chia seeds in the terra cotta and they grew. Who knew they were healthy?? LOL

I get mine from http://www.nutsonline.com/newchia.html . As far as I have found, they have the best prices and the funniest packaging too.

Re: Diet Foods.

Increase your water intake to 1/2 your body weight in oz. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with minimal cooking. Overcooking will kill the good nutrients. Beans, brown rice and lentils are really good and inexpensive if cooked yourself (throw in a couple of bay leaves while beans and lentils are cooking and it gives great flavor). Nuts and seeds are loaded with nutrients, just make sure they are raw. Braggs Liquid Amino Acids is great for seasoning food. Adding raw pistachios and almonds with dried fruit (unsulphered and no added sugar) to a salad is very filling. Salt is very important to your diet, but it needs to be sea salt with minerals in it. If it is white it is refined and not good for you even if it says it is sea salt. Eating healthy can be very overwhelming at first, but in time gets easier. A good movie to watch is Food, Inc. It reveals where the food comes from and will help you make better decisions when buying food. Hope this helps a little.
