And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt. 10:28
So should we teach disciples to fear him?

A person who doesn't fear God is not a disciple. Thus the 'fear of the Lord' needs to be an integral part of evangelistic preaching and teaching.
However, when we read the many scriptures about the 'fear of the Lord' it is obvious that it is much more than fear and reverence. It is a fear and reverence that causes us to hate and depart from evil. My 2 favorites.
Quote:
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate
.
Quote:
Proverbs 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
A person can be wise in the ways of the world, but without 'the fear of the Lord' they are idiots spiritually.
No one will flee from sin unless they fear YHWH. I suspect the waves of rebellion and disobedient can be traced back to the absence of the fear of God.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

That's it Michael, "Perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord." Not by some man-made plans. But deep convictions from deep within our spirit.

Not all unbelievers are filthy.
