Almost Computer Illerate

I purchased a new Windows 8, it is nothing like my old computer which was Windows XP. I've only learned to facebook, E-Mail and Get on AFF, and very little else. For the last two days, I can't get Facebook to appear on my screen. I don't know tech talk. I Don't understand much about this control panel or much else. Can't figure out how to copy and paste. Other than that, there's not a lot I do know.

Is there someone here who can talk in simple language and give me some lessons concerning this aggravating computer. It's a Windows 8 HP.

Help Help Help Help. I have fast access through the dish.

I'm just about ready to toss this thing in the pond and go back to my almost dead, virus infested old Windows XP

Try youtube videos on Win 8. I found some that were helpful.

Win 8 has an "interface" program running on top of what you'd normally recognize as your win XP or Win 7 desktop. You can "move" it out of the way though it still runs in the background.

Personally I find it a useless OS unless you have a touch screen laptop.

try these two

  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

Win8 is made for apps. If you don't prefer this interface, there is a fallback; and I'm curious to know how it works for you, if you decide to use it, ty.

I am going to stick to Windows 7 for as long as I can -just like I did XP, and Windows 98SE before that.

Randy Wayne, if anyone is not computer savvy, they don't need a windows
8, I'm seriously thinking about returning it after having it two months. As of now, I am can longer to receive email nor send any. I don't know what has happened to cause this. When I go into tools and control panels all that stuff that I read is Greek to me, because I haven't a clue what it all means and how it could make my computer work, so what do I click or change?????

Thanks to all who have offered helpful advice anyway. I would go back to my old windows xp, but it will barely move. So I guess those of us can't move forward, will be left behind.

Re: Almost Computer Illerate

I'd definitely take it back. Maybe you can get your old computer
repaired? I don't know why you can't buy computers with the
older windows on them if that's what you want. I love the XP,
to me, it's the best windows they've had.

If mine goes out, I'll try repairing, but, if not, I'll look on ebay or
craigs list to see if I can find another.

Good luck sis.

MicroPuke will, in a year, no longer support XP

Re: Almost Computer Illerate

Fox news lists Win 8 as a tech failure

"Windows 8: Global PC shipments fell by 13.9 percent in the first quarter of 2013, and according to analyst firm IDC , Windows 8 could very well be the reason after a slew of controversial decisions such as killing the Start button."

I watched one of them, but Praxeas, I am ashamed to say it didn't help me much, because once I listened, I couldn't remember much of what was said and my printer is not compatable with this computer in order to copy anything to guide me as I go.

Sorry, I'm approaching 70, like a snowball rolling downhill, and I am unable to comprehend tech talk and thus.

Sorry, Sorry, Sorry...thank's anyway.
