Computer ????

My PC was acting up yesterday. Some how my ad ons are disabled, but when I go to click on manage ad ons it won't work and greyed out.

Try uninstalling Internet Explorer (if that's your browser). Do this in Control Panel -> then click the button on the Left labeled ADD/REMOVE Windows Components. Uncheck IE. Close down your computer and reboot.

When it comes back up - go back re-add IE and reboot again.

If this doesn't fix the problem, try running Windows Update. Install whatever Mr. Gates tells you to.

If that doesn't fix it then you may want to run the "Repair Windows" feature that may or may not be available when you boot your system using your licensed copy of the Operating System Disk.

I would suspect that you had a virus or worm of some sort that your AntiVirus removed automatically, but in doing so it messed up the IE installation. If none of this works, try running the virus scan and watch for the names of any particular infection. Write down that name and Google it. Sites like BleepingComputing.com and MajorGeeks.com have step by step instruction for manually removing most of the popular pests.

Coincidences of coincidences.... I am repairing some PC's that are doing very similar thins right now. Of course I do this every day.....
(I find a minute here and there to type on this board while waiting for downloads and scans to complete.)

Pels post sounds like my son talking to me when I have a glitch. One big plus having a computer geek child.....he can ususally fix any dilemma I might have.

The problem becomes when you ARE that 'computer geek child' and 50 of your closest friends and relatives know it.

Very true!!! He does get many free dinners........but cash would be more appreciated.
