President Obama: For The People

President Obama refuses to sign into law a bill that would make it more difficult for homeonwners to challenge unjustified foreclosure actions.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101007/...ing_whitehouse

I would hope that if McCain had been elected, he would respond this way too.

Government is (should be) for the people, by the people.

His refusal to sign this legislation is an example where the President is showing he has the best interests of the people in mind.

Now imagine if business acted with their "customers" best interests in mind.

You have no idea what this bill is about.

You are sermonizing and haven't read the bill.

It is very short. The bill tries to negate contractural documents that have a notary stamp from a state different than the one the foreclosure is in.

If you liberals think that will stop foreclosures, you are dreaming.

Just curious, since you read this and are being the Apologist for Obama and the Democratic party, explain how this bill makes it more difficult to challenge unjustified foreclosure auctions and please specify the part of the bill that addresses unjustified foreclosure auctions

I worked at a convenience store for a second job for a while.

That's back when food stamps were still paper and came in books.
We could accept dollar stamps loose but anything else we had to tear out of the book ourselves and had to give any change over a dollar in food stamps.

A guy would send his kids in with a dollar stamp each. They would each buy kool aid or a candy bar then give the change to their Dad and he would have enough money to buy beer.

JD, love ya, but businesses do act in the best interest of their customers or else they lose customers and go out of business. The beauty of capitalism is that businesses that deliver quality products and services to the customers flourish and businesses that don't fail (as long as government won't "bailout" the failing business).

Government, politicians in particular, on the other hand don't have any interest to consider except special interests and those who will fill their election campaign coffers with money. Government bureaucrats don't serve the people's interest by and large because there is no incentive to deliver quality goods and services because there is no competition.

Most of what is wrong with America is government, not business.

The article states that this bill, the Interstate Recognition of Notarizations Act, would protect banks and mortgage processors from liability for improperly prepared foreclosure documents.

It doesn't seem major at first, but what the President did by refusing to sign this bill helps the homeowner.

Apparently, many of the notarizations on the foreclosure papers of many homes were printed en masse, by computer, in an effort to "expedite" the foreclosure process.

One of the main roles of a notary is to personally review the documents being notarized. This has not been happening.

Further, the requirements for notarization may differ from state to state. The President's refusal to sign this bill forces banks and businesses to "do right" by their customers, according to the laws and regulations of each of their customers' individual home states.

This is a victory for Joe Average, whose home may be in foreclosure. It keeps the banks from simply running roughshod over customers who have fallen behind on their mortgages.

At a time where banks and mortgage lenders are being investigated for fraud and other possible crimes against their own customers, the President stopped a bill that could have protected the banks and mortgage lenders who may have carried out foreclosures on Americans all across the country in an "one-size-fits-all" manner, without regard to the rights and protections granted to the homeowner by their individual states.

This is a small victory for "States' Rights" and a huge victory for the individual American.

GOD BLESS THE USA!

GOD BLESS THE PRESIDENT!

I agree with you with my emphasis being on the word most, as opposed to all.

Businesses that have moved their operations and jobs out of country for the sake of dollars could have and should have found a way to make it work here in America-- even if it meant that they would only 1 million as opposed to 1.5 million.

Imagine if some businesses and corporations had so much "pride in America" to the point that they would only employ Americans. I know this idealism couldn't work for every business that has gone overseas for their workforce, but some companies can find ways to not outsource-- another means of producing more tax payers.
