Even if his state needs the money for the jobs lost there or the rebuilding of the infrastructor and it hurts the residents for a while- so what! It will only be for a while.
At least he stood up on principals. Where are the other govenors prinicpals on the stimilus issue?
Also that means there will be no extension (I think) for unemployment benefits wont be extended along with the other states that are accepting the money. (which may hurt for sure) But now is the time for christian charities to step in and help out the families that are unemployed because of lost jobs in the Gov Jindal's state.
Lets see how people of Louisians how they come together. Now is the time to shine Louisiana!

Dont mean to be a party pooper but your facts arent correct. Gov Jindal is only rejecting $98 million of the $3.8 BILLION alloted for the state of Louisiana. To put it another way, he is only rejecting 2% and taking the other 98% of the stimulus money. LOL this guy is totally laying the ground work for a 2012 run.

Hmmm.
Thanks for looking that up.
Cold hard facts are a beautiful thing.
I don't think Jindal's decision was all that impressive. In fact, it was a bit of a no-brainer, actually.

to be clear, I believe he is rejecting the portion of the package that would require Louisiana to undo the welfare reform that was passed in the mid-1990's
Taking that 98million would require the state to revamp its welfare process to revert back to the old method of recruiting welfare recipients.
I applaud this action. It is the right action. it is a principled action.
my governor in Texas is also doing this and I applaud that as well.

Actually neither state would have to revamp anything. All they would have to do is amend the state law regarding the unemployment benefits. The point is its a political stunt pure and simple.

Thanks for the explanation! It would be foolish to reject the stimulus money, unless everyone in the state got an equivalent federal tax break each year that would equal the stimulus amount.
I saw where China has gotten the stimulus idea right! They are issuing coupons instead of money. If they issued money, people might be tempted to save it. By issuing coupons, they are guaranteeing that the stimulus will be used for products. Smart idea!

Awe! I thought this guy was the real deal.
If its a bad stimulus package - then stand against it like a real patriot.
