Former NJ Govenor McGreevey speaking @ XUPC pastor's church @ Stonewall!

Where do people go to Church who just do not fit in with religion? Is there a place where people can come and just enjoy the good news of love and be encouraged in who they already are in God? Is that not the kind of Church so many of us have been looking for?

Church at Stonewall is a new gathering of people who love the message of God's unconditional love for everyone. It is 'church' without the bad of 'church.' We believe that God's love is universal and unconditional for all. From priests to porn stars, there is no one outside of the love and acceptance of God. We all are equal and accepted in God's eyes.

That is the message we are sharing each Sunday at 2pm at the historic Stonewall Inn. It is located at 53 Christopher Street in the West Village. The bar is serving, the atmosphere is casual, come as you are and enjoy being uplifted in love.

Here are just a few of the events we have coming up in the next weeks.

Former New Jersey Govenor Jim McGreevey will speaking about his journey of faith in recent years.

Anthony Caruso also known as 'Uma Goodness' the preaching drag queen will be coming and doing her/his show.

Jay Bakker, pastor of Revolution NYC and the son of Tammy Faye will be speaking soon.

A veteran of the Stonewall riots will be sharing about what Stonewall meant to them then and should mean to us today.

The Stonewall Inn is such a fitting place to do Church like this. It represents freedom and standing up to injustice. For years many in the gay community have been made to feel somehow 'outside' of spirituality and the church world. Porn stars, drag queens, or those who enjoy their sexuality are not always made to feel welcome in religious communities. That is why we need something fresh and new. You will find it at the Stonewall Inn every Sunday at 2pm.

Christian

What is the true nature of God?

Sure there is an opportunity for salvation?

Sure their is an opportunity for forgiveness?

However Jesus did not say to both thieves on the cross next to him.

Today thou will be with me in paradise.

If they were both going with him, he would not have needed to make the comment to the one.

Not everyone regardless of your acceptance of continued sin will be saved.

You may not judge but one day this God will...

Some will burn and some will turn....

so sad, and sickening.

the name Stonewall Inn itself was a sick choice for a church name, and I use the term "church" very loosely.

sickening.

I didnt realize they called it "the church at stonewall" b/c it was AT the old gay bar Stonewall...

Church At Stonewall...Who We Are And What It's About...

So you go online and find out that a new Church is starting and meets at the world's most famous gay bar. What is this you might ask. We feel like it could be the Church you have been searching for. Let's take some time to fill you in and answer your questions about it all.

Church at Stonewall is a new Church starting up as a 'sister' Church to Revolution New York. Revolution New York is led by Jay Bakker, the son of Tammy Faye. Jay is a cutting edge leader in sharing a fresh and grace based view of God and has been active in recent years in presenting a strong message of gay inclusion in the Christian community.

Church at Stonewall is being led by Christian Garrett. Christian spent 20 years as an in the closet gay guy trying to fit into conservative Christianity. He came to an awakening some years back that God is pure and unconditional love and dwells within everyone. He came out as gay and that ended his time in conservative Christianity. He moved to New York in 2007 as an assistant to Jay at Revolution and with Jay's encouragement is starting up Church at Stonewall as a new Church dedicated to promoting a radical message of inclusion and unconditional love for all.

Here are some common questions that a lot of people have when you start talking about Church and some answers to those questions.

1) Is this a Church that believes that only Christians are going to heaven?

The answer is no. We believe that God is within us all. Everyone is a unique expression of the God of unconditional love. We believe that one day God's love will bring everyone into an awareness of His grace and goodness and that everyone will enjoy 'heaven' together in love.

We welcome and embrace all lovers of spirituality of all love-based beliefs to come and enjoy what God is doing at Stonewall. We believe that those who are Christian, New Age, Buddhist, Catholic, Agnostic, etc. who believe in love should come together and focus on the things that we all agree on. Love is the answer and the whole world will improve when we all love God within each other.

2) Is this just a Church for gay people?

We are a Church for all people. Gay people and those who love them! We welcome porn stars, preachers, drag queens, doctors, call boys, lawyers, the rich and the poor, atheists and agnostics, everyone who wants to be lifted up in the good news of love.

3) I like the idea but am not into religion.

We hear that a lot. A whole lot. We want to let everyone know that we are not into religion either. There is a huge difference between being spiritual and being religious. Spirituality is the enjoyment of God in all things. Religion sucks and no one needs it. That is our view. Church should be about learning the love of God and enjoying God within yourself and others. That is our mission. Screw religion; let's love God and one another.

4) What are the services like?

Laid back and casual. The bar will be serving and we will meet and have a 20-30 minute inspirational talk from various speakers each week. Then we will hang out, enjoy the bar and getting to know each other. Some weeks we will have special celebrity guest speakers and some weeks special musical performances. Each week will be unique to say the least!

That should serve as a good intro. to what we are all about. Church without religion, faith without fear, grace without guilt, God without division, inclusion and not exclusion, hope and not hate, and no law but love.

If this sounds like what you are looking for in a Church, join us every Sunday at 2pm starting January 6th. We think you will love it.

Soddom and Gomorrah had NOTHING on this day and age
