You guys are using scripture that was never intended to be used in the way that you are implying.
I don't care if you have been baptized in Jesus' name, spoke in tongues when the Holy Ghost came and are quitely living an outwardly holy life...IF...IF you are not keeping his commandments and walking in the light, you can sing and shout all you want to but you are NOT NOW nor shall you be saved.
Judgment is yet ahead of all of us.
We must not comfort ourselves with misapplied scritpures to give false comfort while at the same time we're NOT keeping His commandments and walking in the light. To do so is to DISPELL the fear of God...the beginning of wisdom. The Word for the whole duty of man is: "Fear God AND keep His commandments."
On the other hand...BE COMFORTED in your heart if it does not condemn you. You then can have confidence toward God. I too am DETERMINED to hold out to the end. Jesus is with me on Him I can depend...BUT so long as I HOLD OUT to the end.
Let's keep some balance here lest some reading these posts assume we are of the eternal security persuasion. Not so! Salvation can be forfeited and often IS forfeited.
Please show me or quote me who in this thread was advocating your salvation can't be forfeited.
Saying I KNOW I am saved, right here and right now does NOT advocate OSAS.
And please show how any scripture was misused

According to John, what is or was "His commandments"?
BTW On the one hand I am not advocating OSAS...on the other hand I oppose the phariseeical notion that a person can lose their salvation in just a blink of the eye and the whim of an angry and impatient God.
Salvation is based on faith. Faith is the method of obedience. Love is the reason. You don't have to be perfect in your own works of righteousness in order to be saved. Otherwise everyone is lost and or is bouncing back and forth between salvation and damndation like a pingpong ball in a hot game between two asian men
Thanks for your honesty. Saying you are 100% sure is what you are 'supposed' to say, but that's all it is. We might know for sure we had a great experience, but beyond that, we are guessing.
I also need to add that I don't view salvation the same way most here seem to. If I look at that instead of what's being asked here, I still have to say that no, I am not saved...but I am 100% sure that I am in the process of being saved.

And if you think it's simple enough to understand what the NT holds us to, well, aren't you lucky! Look at all the fuss over whether a woman can cut her hair or not, or how nit-picky God will be about the words spoken over a baptism. And how about selling all you have and giving it all to the poor?
Well, it's all neither here nor there, at least for the eighteen 100-percenters (never mind that the chances are nil that they all agree on the details). Now, the others, especially the two in the 50-89 range and the one "No idea", they might need your help.

You forgot tithe paying, submitting to the "man of God" and faithful "when the doors are open" church attendance....
Unless of course those are part of the overall "commandments".
Randy, Those things are maturity issues. God expects His Children will grow and mature the longer they serve Him. He expects them to not just want to know what they can do to sqeak in... what they HAVE to do.. but He wants them to come to the point where they say "What CAN I do?" and do it with a cheerful heart.
If you aren't growing closer to God and your spiritual man is dwarfed by your carnal man you will only last so long. And then your relationship with God becomes very stale and shallow. Not a place I want to live. He saved me and I want to know Him.
