Re: Sinless Perfection
Votive, you'll notice that I remained on topic until they began going personal. And in my response to the personal statement made to me, I even mentioned that it wasn't for this thread. I gave a short answer, directed to the marriage thread, and gave a link to more info. They commenced with the brow beating and personal mud slinging. lol Go back and look. It's all right there, Votive. Here's a link:

Just review it. You'll notice that from that point forward, they insist on going personal instead of answering the questions I'm posting about the actual topic.
And why are all these guys trying to tie me to "Rachel Ralph"? I don't know who RR is. I've been cordial to RR, but I don't understand what Rachel Ralph has to do with me.
Also, take a look at how many times these guys call me out of my name.
In addition, while I'm trying to have a discussion about a theological positions, and a poster keeps trying to "pastor" me over this forum, continuously going personal on almost every topic. What gives? That's not cool either.
I think some folks around here have forgotten, this is an open discussion forum, not a pastoral website for actual pastoral counseling. AFF has always embraced a free flow of thought, discussion, debate, and sharing of perspectives. Even perspectives by those who might be considered "backslidden" or struggling. But these guys are taking it to a level that often feels like harassment. And I've yet to see an admin openly address it. I don't want anyone to be suspended or banned. That's why I've rarely ever launched a formal complaint. I think I did once in reference to some reckless statements made about PTSD. For vets, EMS, police, fire, and those who have had traumatic abuse or circumstance... PTSD is rather serious. As many as 22 vets commit suicide every day. That's not factoring in the EMS, police, and trauma victims and their struggles. And when I did launch a formal complaint, I heard nothing in response. Nor did I see any open action by any admin. And, I'm not sure why. All I hoped to see was an admin offer some friendly guidance to some good guys who were getting a bit off track.
Is there not an Admin on AFF?

While your over here crying acting and playing the victim. Direct them all the way back to post #355 (I see you conveniently began at #362) where you, confessed to just be playing games. After that the thread went in a different direction. Especially because we realize you do all this on purpose!
You said plainly "I know it's difficult for you to follow.
The first part of the game, I discussed how sin is more than an act, it is also a state of being, and a law in our members to be resisted through mortifying the flesh through the Spirit.
Mid-game, I questioned those believing in law keeping for perfection regarding what laws to obey, because they pick and choose.
Last quarter, I'm sharing my perspective. The principles and spirit of the whole law is kept through putting on Christ, and living a Spirit led life by the Law of Christ (Love God/Love Others)."
Of course that's the watered down version of the truth. But it shows the M.O. of the action, throughout. Not on just this topic but day in day out, on all the threads.

I'm no victim, but it's a fact you guys call me outside of my name 10 to 1. It's also a fact that no matter the topic, several of you have to interrupt and go personal by bringing up topics unrelated to the thread, and even try to "pastor" me. I've always contended that such was inappropriate and rather creepy, seeing that I don't know any of you personally. Yet, some of y'all don't stop. lol I don't get it.
Like it or not, there are rules. I've tried to remember that. No one enjoys being insulted, and all should be treated with respect. So, calling me a "victim" saying that I'm over here "crying" is just an example of you not understanding that the rules apply to you too. The Code of Conduct on AFF states:
Quote:
We do not allow any rebuking, hatefulness, name calling, or verbal attacks by any person or group of people, toward any person or group of people. Content that is unseemly, using bad language, or any form of insinuating bad language (i.e. one letter and ****), or offensive slang, is not permitted.
This administration knows that God's Word allows for rebuking and correction under certain conditions, but because of the lack of understanding by some, as well as the differing views by a multitude of readers here, and for the sake of peace, we will not permit it under any circumstances.
|
Now, I've been guilty of the much of the same things as you guys. And I've tried to explain myself and express my apology. And... move away from it. You guys keep dragging it up, going personal, calling names, etc. And, you're not stopping. Please, in the name of just human decency, consider what I'm saying. We can have a far more enjoyable exchange if we all just decide that we're all entitled to respect.
I think we've all gone too far. But I'm only one man. On average, I'm not only offering a nuanced or different opinion, getting at least 2 to 1 disagreement...but add in the insults, berating, personal attacks, being called out of my name, etc... it's a bit much for a forum. There are rules. I'm not whining. I don't mind sparing at times. But c'mon, you can't say that you'd enjoy being treated the way I'm treated if you were the minority opinion.

This is a great example of misrepresentation. I didn't "confess to just be playing games". I was responding to Esaias, Post #353, where he wrote:

Good grief.

Esaias statement painted the picture of a basket ball game. I was following in suit in my response, using the phases of a game as my structure while explaining what I've actually been saying. I wasn't confessing to "playing games".
Why misrepresent what was clearly intended so badly? Why starting pointing and shouting, "He confesses he's playing a game! He's just playing games!" Go back, read it yourself. You're misrepresenting what I said... and IGNORING what I actually said.

1ofthechosen, why can't we enjoy a good conversation and discuss differences in opinion without personal attacks, mischaracterizations, and misrepresenting statements? We slash and hack one another like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Alex Jones. We're talking to one another like we're in a political arena, not as brethren.
I think we've all drifted from the conduct we agreed to uphold here. Let's return to civility. If the admin chose to enforce the rules, we'd all be banned. The admins have been more than merciful to us all. Let's stop while we're all ahead, review the code of conduct, recommit ourselves, and be... Apostolic Friends once again.

Don't cry for me Argentina.
Admins understand that you are a provoker. You know that you are a provoker. Even a stranger to this forum can pick up easily by your own posts that you like to play devil's advocate. You are like an Atheist troll disguised as a Christian. Is that our fault? Getting personal? Oh, you mean when you make yourself the lightning rod by giving us some "personal story" and we then must comment on said "story?" Aquila, you are the resident shapeshifter extraordinaire. Listen, there is an old proverb which goes "if one person calls you a horse, forget it, if two people call you a horse, think about it, if three call you a horse, go get yourself a saddle."

My question is this, why aren't you even embarrassed?

Aquila believes like (as did Sean) that because posts zoom by with pages in a thread. All is easily forgotten. I'm still waiting to see his explanation for how we are the American Taliban.
