In covenant and being saved are two different things. Your not "saved" in the since of eternal life, til he says well done! God offers the provision for your sin but the race to eternal life is not about the first step!

I strongly disagree. I already have eternal life when I have the Lord in me. Eternal life is not something we get when we become immortal. Immortal and eternal are two very different things. Eternal means no beginning nor ending. Immortal means no ending alone. So since only God is eternal, and I can never BECOME eternal, I have eternal life since He is in me.
1 John 5:13 KJV These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
That does not mean I cannot lose my eternal life and salvation through sin. But right now, I have it! That just needs to be maintained.

We can have an opinion, but where is the scripture for it?

Here they are in a newer video. 30 years later there's still some hair there that would cause a problem for some of the more conservative among us. And, one is even wearing at least one ear ring.

Some of y'all are too young to remember the nineteen seventies with the polyester clothes, bell bottom pants, high heels for men, "long" hair on men, and the facial hair and such but it did affect the Oneness Pentecostals but maybe not as extremely as in that older video. I used to have a polyester sport coat that looked something like the ones they had on. I never did have all that hair though. I did grow a mustache in the late seventies and my ALJC pastor preached one Sunday night, "The Bible says that a man is supposed to be clean shaven." That's the last time we went to church there after being part of that assembly for about 15 years.

Re: Are you sure you're saved?

I know this is not a thread about the Oak Ridge Boys or about "fashion" so I'll post this and hope it doesn't hijack the thread.

I'm not a big fan of the Oak Ridge Boys but this is a song by "The Oaks" that I've loved for a long time. I told one preacher that he and his family could sing this and instead of singing "They baptized Jesse Taylor in Cedar Creek last Sunday," they could just sing, "They baptized Jesse Taylor in Jesus' name last Sunday."

Again, a comment on the clothes. The polyester, the bell bottoms, the high heels, sideburns, hair over the ears all made their appearance in Apostolic Churches on Apostolic preachers, singers, and saints in various ways. One local UPC pastor here preached that sideburns could come no lower than where the wax comes out.

You have the hope of... You also interact with the eternal life of the Spirit. The life of the Spirit is the eternal life IN HIM he promised but we have not obtained it yet in it's fulness. We INHERIT IT in the end! As when you inherit the future kingdom of God as Paul says! Yes he gives us life as in covenant/eternal life through his Spirit but the promise has to come to a fulness of realization. In the end one is judged either unto eternal life or damnation. You say you have eternal life? To inherit it is the point. I think it is all semantics on our points but oh well! Much of your points almost like many OSAS who say I have eternal life. I have it thus my salvation cannot be take away.

Re: Are you sure you're saved?

The question should have been "are you sure you will spend eternity in Heaven?" Now that question can't possibly be answered 100% sure by anyone. Can it?

Everyone knows some backsliders, and some of them looked like rock-solid believers who would never be swayed, didn't they? Who can say that they themselves will never, ever fall, between now and their death? Not only must they be right about their current "saved" status (have chosen the right book to follow, and chosen the right interpretation of it, and followed its instructions correctly), but they have to "endure to the end". Nobody can know if they have what it takes to do that.

Can they?

It may be semantics, but I know if I should pass today, I would inherit all that is waiting for the saved believer. I already said I can lose my salvation. But as it stands now, I have eternal life and know I am saved. I will also would know if I am not.

Re: Are you sure you're saved?

"My Hope is Built on Nothing Less"
by Edward Mote, 1797-1874

1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

3. His oath, His covenant, and blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When every earthly prop gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

Hymn #370
The Lutheran Hymnal
Text: 1 Timothy 1:1
Author: Edward Mote, c. 1834, cento
Composer: John Stainer, 1873, arr.
Tune: "Magdalen"
