The Mirror of our Mind

We are told to look in the Perfect Law of Liberty which is a mirror(James 1:23-25) to see what we really are.
I read an article years ago about the games our mind plays. It was about obesity. It said some will look into the mirror and see themselves as they were years before they put on their weight and refuse to really see what the mirror is telling them they see a slimmer person that is not there. The mirror shows what is but the mind says NO I am not that much overweight. The same goes with anerexia(?) they see a fat person as they starve themselves to death. It is apparent to those about them of their real condition but their mind has been lied to so much they are fooled.
It is a difficult thing to look in the mirror and see our imperfections to the extent we desire to change them. Lord help me to change what is in the mirror and NOT to change the mirror.
Just a thought.

The Law of Libery is something I have never really been able to grasp. It seems like a contradiction in terms. Law is designed to govern and liberty is freedom. How can there be a way of governing freedom?

Awesome topic!

I was just recently considering this "mirror" concept, how it indeed does challenge us to really SEE .. remember the man that looketh in the mirror then walks away forgetting what he looks like? I love that story(?) or concept, in the BIBLE.

Yes we CAN forget what we really LOOK like and try to just remember ourselves as we were, I KNOW that I don't actually SEE myself as FAT as I really am, but I AM..just checkin out the SHADOW will shock one back into reality! I guess the "shadow" doesn't lie, lol lol

RICO in regards to your query - I have a thought.

At least this is how I organize the idea - that LIBERTY that GOD gives IS truly freedom from being conformed to the ways of the world and to then proceed life according to the terms of a much better HIGHER form of being governed by His Kingdom statutes, ordinances..and best of all - reap them BLESSINGS!

I may not have stated that as well as I would have if I was more AWAKE, lol
I bet looking at this in the morning light, I might be startled!

I try.
