Bearing Witness to the Witnesses
There are three that have been bearing witness to the salvation that
God has promised man: they are
"...the Spirit, the water, and the
blood." (1 Jn 5:8) Whosoever receives the
blood, will come to the
waters of baptism; and whosoever comes to the
waters of baptism,
will also receive the
Holy Spirit.
There are also three witnesses within the scriptures that bear witness
to the gospel that saves.
The
THIRD witness is found in 1 Cor, 15:1-4: it's the
Apostle Paul.
He wrote:
"Moreover, brothers, I declare unto you the gospel...by
which also you are saved," Paul is declaring that it is the gospel
that saves. In subsequent verses, he declares that the gospel is the
"...
death,
burial, and the
resurrection..." of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The
SECOND witness is found in
Acts 2:38-39, in the words of the
Apostle Peter. He said,
"...repent, and be baptized everyone of you
in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and YOU SHALL
receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the Promise is unto you,
and unto your children...".
The
FIRST and GREATEST WITNESS is the
Lord Jesus Christ: he said:
"He that believes and is baptized shall be saved." The words of His
apostles, Peter and Paul, AGREE with those words spoken in
Mark 16:16.
Did you notice the PROMISE to be saved? It is found in the Lord's words,
"...SHALL BE saved...", and
"...SHALL RECEIVE the Holy Spirit."
COME:
believe and be
baptized, and YOU SHALL receive the gift
of the
Holy Spirit!
