Led by the spirit
Pastor Terry Shock taught a very good lesson tonight.
His text:
Matt 4:1 (KJV) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
One point he made stood out.
He stated "Prosperity has ruined way more lives, than servanthood........."
Do you agree or disagree?
I can't think of only one example in the Gospels of a rich man shown in a good light and that would be Joseph Arimathaea.

It could also be stated;
"Prosperity has ruined way more ministries, than servanthood........."
Yes I agree with the statement.......................

The "LOVE of MONEY" is the root of all EVIL...not the possession of it.

So the "love of prosperity" can ruin a person?

I agree. There are tons of scriptures that teach the rich trust in their riches and become prideful and feel that they don't need God or think within themselves what benefit is there to serving God. Not to mention what happened to the nation of Israel when they became full and forgot God or the church of Laodicea: 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
If riches increase set not your heart upon them.

I have quoted it here many times but it is fitting once again! Elder CA Nelson used to tell me all the time "Things and stuff will put more folks in hell than whiskey and snuff!" It is the truth.
More importantly, God revealed something to me about 3 years ago in a time of prayer and fasting. He showed me emphatically in a vision that he could no more use me bound by the chains of life than he could bound by the chains of sin!

What was the vision, Phil, if you don't mind telling it?
