Life Changing Contemporary Christian Music

This is in response to last weeks thread on "Is Contemporary Christian Music Wrong"?

I present to you 78 minutes of the best praise and worship this side of Heaven. Misty Edwards is the most anointed Psalmist I have ever seen. Her music is a hard hitting, passionate, call to discipleship rarely seen in Christian music.

Young people are being pointed to Jesus. Lives are being changed for the good. I like to watch the faces of these young people during the worship. The impact you can see in their hearts.

I hesitate to call her music "contemporary" in this sense. It is so far AHEAD of the nominal contemporary music it will probably take decades for them to catch up.

Not only does it seem the lives of young people are being changed my own life has been changed by Mistys music. The scripture says go from "glory to glory" by the Spirit of the Lord.

So I cant say ALL Contemporary Christian Music is good. I know some of it is very excellent and heavenly!

Beware who watches! You may find your own life changed!

To my knowledge Misty does not do "concert tours". She leads her worship team every day in the 24/7 Prayer Room. They play many times Saturday nights at Church. All for free. That knocks me out.

I have seen many Christian artists lose their vision because of getting caught up in being famous.

Its not "God how far do I have to go?"

Its "How far will you let me go?" "How abandoned will you let me be?" Misty Edwards

Re: Life Changing Contemporary Christian Music

I hope at least some of those who click on the thread listen to at least some of what was presented. About 5 years ago now my soul was aching for something different. Christian Rock (asI knew it) had vanished almost altogether. The Charismatic Movement had lost its edge. I left most of the hymns behind during the Jesus Movement.

When I first heard Misty it hit me right between the eyes. The message was full. Gods love for his. Our love for him based on the first commandment! Holiness with heart purity. The end time post trib warnings and the judgment of God!

Its the consecration adorned by power packed musical doctrine.

I did listen to a lot of the video. I admire what they are doing, but the music doesn't appeal to me. It's a little too earthy or something. I'm not trying to be critical, but I can't stand when the same verse is sung over and over and over. I just don't like it at all. Three times is enough. I get it. lol

I did like the song around the 50 mark and after finishing the video, I liked the end better than the beginning.

Wow I think its great that you gave it a chance! In defence of the idea of singing one thought many times I see it like this.

8And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying , Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was , and is , and is to come . Rev. 4:8

This tells me that the four beings in the Universe that are the closest to God are saying this same praise to him over and over again. Apparently God likes what they are doing.

Much music I have seen about the Lord has plenty of different lyrics but they dont amount to a lot in depth. I kinda think maybe less words and then go straight to the worshipping of Jesus.

But hey I am really glad you took time to check it out. I suppose most wont go as far as you did.

I suspect there is a smaller group of people out there that it will hit the way it does me. Many blessings to you! Michael

Re: Life Changing Contemporary Christian Music

Michael I too watched most of it and it made me jealous in that I wish I could have been there. There seemed to be a sweet unrsuhed presence of the Holy Ghost.

I have been in services where it is almost like the Holy Spirit feels rushed and hurried. Did I make sense???

Impressive!

I love Misty, too! (Some of her songs I love more than others.)

As far as repetitive words go, if they are building and moving, then it's all good. Her's are these things!
