Romneys out of touch

ann romney wears a silk tee shirt that costs 990 dollars. mitt may have millions in a swiss bank account, avoiding american taxes. michelle shops at jcrew and target. obama just paid off student loans 8 years ago. who is more related to the majority american experience? this election is about romney and if he is entitled to replace obama.

Don't fool yourself; Michelle's university salary was quite substantial at about $317,000.00 for working part time and she doesn't *just* shop at Target and JCrew. (Target is cheap, JCrew isn't cheap, btw.) The Obamas reported a joint income last year of $787,000.00 or so. Hardly "in touch" with the average American. LAST year, he reported nearly a million more than THAT (for 2010?), due in large part to his book sales.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/entertai...tion-wardrobe/

"...or the Christmas Day church service at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Base, Mrs. Obama was photographed in a seemingly simple white sundress with red and yellow stripes. The dress, however, was by French-born, U.S.-based designer Sophie Theallet, and would have cost the first lady almost $2,000 when she bought it in 2009. More recent designs by Theallet sell for even more. ...For the meet-and-greet with service members and their families in a nearby mess hall later in the day, Mrs. Obama dressed down — in a printed green $950 Comme des Garcons skirt with bag waist."

Making appearances at Target doesn't make one frugal.

dm - did you bring this up when GWB was running against John Kerry?
Or does this go against your narrative...

obama's net worth is around 11 million compared to romney's 250 million. the obama's wealth is recent, it is not their average experience. who is more in tune with the average experience from their recent past?

i don't remember kerry's personal wealth, i remember his wife is rich from ketchup. i am just pointing out to deacon that there are more issues in this campaign than obama. mitt will also be a focus of the campaign. americans are sensitive to class distinctions and romney is definetly far apart from the average american experience.

Hmmm, who is it that seems to be fomenting class warfare?

Re: Romneys out of touch

As I often point out to my right and left wing friends.
Almost all politicians are far wealthier than any of us will ever be.
Also, most of them church worship at the church of themselves...

Wasn't it Kerry who had so many homes he couldn't remember how many?

Yeah, if he was only poor. He could teach us all how to make do with less, and share recipes for using the free cheese.

I think that was McCain..but you are right now days you have to have some real money to be a politician. It's a shame the common man can compete.

Career politicians are one of the government's major problems. That and a lack of Statesman.

Re: Romneys out of touch

A man becoming wealthy and having the knowledge to create it in others is a HUGE positive for a candidate in this time of economic turmoil. Conversely, if he believes the pie cannot be enlarged, but just needs to be resliced to "share the wealth" it is a major negative!
