I have heard of it and have been to Bro.Varnum's church several times back when I was considered part of the "youth"! wow time has flown! Beautiful church there! I remember dancing in aisles during one of our youth services! Great times!!!!
Last I knew, that church was considered a conservative church so I doubt many here would attend!!!! ![Smile](http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/images/smilies/smile.gif) Anyway, I hope you have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![I have Happy Feet!](http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com/images/smilies/bliss.gif)

Re: Touch the Future
I have not even heard of such a conference. I think by the name it sounds over promising. Often times, IMO, these youth conferences and things are alot of hype and little substance which is unfortunate. I have seen things over promise and under deliever and all that is left are hyped up people that seem to fizzle out once they get home. There is the other side where people leave changed and stay changed which is not often from my former youth pastor experiences. Though if someone leaves changed and stays that way then the 'Touch the Future Conference' has done what it set out to do.
I remember an adult type conference called 'Build a Better You'. Great thought, but under delievered. Infact, I know of at least 4 of the preachers that have either left the ministry or cheated on their wives and been divorced that preached that conference. Obviously those are extremes, but think about it on a youth level. Are we coming up with a big bang thang and not a real change thang? Just observations, but sounds like an interesting conference.

If I am not mistaken, this is a conference for young people who desire to be in the ministry. It is actually great because good men of God promote these young men and urge them to do more for God... I have seen too many men hold young people back from wanting to be used in the ministry..... This is a great church that is putting this on....They promote worship, preaching, and they promote living for God ! It may not be very deep but it is most definitely encouraging for the young people!

Re: Touch the Future
I will say that the Belleview church is a great church! It was a church built on prayer... They started out small and God has blessed them sooo much. Well over a couple hundred people there..... The Varnum's are a very anointed family!

That is great. We do need more of this type of thing. I hope no one gets offended by my first post. I was young minister at one point and we were sent to these 'great' conferences and camps and had an experience, but it was often times fluff instead of stuff.
I would get behind a conference that helps promote young ministers. When I was the younger minister my Sr. Pastor always said "Get with Tim"-the associate pastor. Tim is a great guy at times, but did not have near the experience I was looking to learn from. Tim is only 2 years older than me. So I felt it was the Sr. Pastor pushing me off. He did this with many young aspiring ministers through the years. He did it to the generation before me and when the associate at that time left to go on his own alot of those people left and the Sr. Pastor wondered why. They had a bond. Anyway...I think that things like Becasue of the Times is a great place to go to, but it is not a growing ground for young ministers all the time. Sometimes they deal with lofted issues that a younger minister has not gone through the smaller stuff. I think that my generation which is the 'x' generation will still do great things, but the up and coming 'post 911' generation has to live with terrorist in their own country and different things that make life harder than maybe the 'x' generations life. We do need things like Touch the Future, if that is indeed what the conference is about.

I know the Varnums from waaayyyyy back in the day. We had/have mutual friends.
I remember going to Universal Studios with them and our friends in the early 80's, so I guess it depends on what your definition of conservative is!!!! I would consider them so, but some on here would disagree.
