Texas House OKs Voter ID Bill
http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/pol...-Voter-ID-Bill
Thoughts, likes, dislikes?
Since I don't carry my voter reg card with me everywhere like I do my DL, I've always showed my DL when voting and don't mind doing so...

Re: Texas House OKs Voter ID Bill
I do not know anyone of voting age who does not have a photo id.
I am sure there must be some, but I do not know any.

Re: Texas House OKs Voter ID Bill
The bill’s author, Spring Republican Rep. Patricia Harless, argued that voting locations in Texas “should have at least the same integrity as renting a movie, boarding a plane or cashing a check.”
I agree!
But Anchia called it a voter suppression effort that is ill-timed, as voter turnout in Texas is now the worst of any state in the union — 32 percent of registered voters in the 2010 general election.
“This is intentional disenfranchisement of African-American and Latino voters. Republicans simply want fewer people to vote,” he said.
If I was an African-American or Latino I would be insulted to imply that I was not able to have some form of legal idenification.

The Democrats acting as though it would only affect their vote. The bill will also affect any Republican trying to vote - illegally. What a bunch of whiners.

Re: Texas House OKs Voter ID Bill
I'm against the bill. It should be easy to vote not hard. Many people don't have driver's licenses or other forms of photo ID. Many of those people also don't have cars to get to a place for a valid photo ID. So while I can see the need for added security... let's not forget the underpriveleged voters and provide them some better mechanisms to help them get valid photo ID's.

Maybe that's a problem that should be fixed too...
