Salvation is a Who, Not a What

Too many think of salvation as a commodity, an achievement, an event, a happening. In reality salvation is Jesus Christ. Jesus means "Jehovah, My Salvation". His name was to be called "Jesus, for HE shall save His people from their sins".

When we delute salvation's meaning to a simply a something, an "it", a "thing", we will find ourselves defining salvation in terms of "formulas", "3-Steps", "1-Step", jumping through hoops, climbing certain peaks, diving to certain depths, achieving certain goals.

Jesus is salvation. Believe on Him, trust Him, love Him, repent to Him, walk with Him and when those moments come when you will need His saving grace, it will be Jesus who will rescue you from your dilemma and ultimately from the wrath and judgment of God.

When we do try to dilute it, it doesn't work. Like oil and water. Our righteousness won't dilute his. It won't mix with His righteousness!!

11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1 John 5:11-12 King James Version

This is the testimony in essence: God gave us eternal life; the life is in his Son. So, whoever has the Son, has life; whoever rejects the Son, rejects life.
1 John 5:11-12 The Message

11 And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life.
1 John 5:11-12 New Living Translation

Re: Salvation is a Who, Not a What

hey man...I have been thinking on this for a while and I think thats why Pilate never got a response when he asked the question "What is truth?" as with what you have said about salvation I believe we have sought so much of "WHAT" is truth that we have forgotton "WHO" truth is...He said I am THE TRUTH. Pilate should have asked WHO is truth.Truth to us has become this search for the ultimate understanding of scripture and the ultimate doctrine instead of a incredible relationship with the embodiment of TRUTH Jesus Christ.

Salvation is in Jesus Christ. I feel it's God's will for all to repent,be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and become Spirit Filled and then live a life of submission to The Lordship of Christ, but yes salvation is in Jesus Christ. And the plan is in the man.

The word, salvation, has more than one meaning. The Greek has more than one word for salvation as well. Maybe you should check those out before becoming dogmatic about it.
