Passover Wine Or Grape Juice , Communion Question ?
Ok. this hasn't been discussed in awhile ,and there are great Christians on both sides of the issue.
But for the Christian ordinance of symbolic communion is Grape Juice or is Passover Wine more correct to use.
Or is either one acceptable?
What do you use and why do you use it ?

We use wine. I think they drank wine in the Bible.

I heard an ole' time preacher say one time "I didn't drink alcohol before I got in church, and I sure ain't going to now that I am in the church!"... I tend to agree.. But I'm not going to throw stones at those who use wine even though I see it causing unnecessary confusion for some church members...

I often have wondered if the passover wine might be a temptation to those who were drunks ,before they got into the church.

The church I go to now (Hamilton Dream Center) and the one I went to from 1992 until 2006 (Vineyard Community Church) use grape juice. Previous churches (UPC) used wine. I'm OK with either one. I would guess we should use Jewish Passover wine and matzohs to be closer to what was used by Jesus but I think the spiritual meaning is more important than the letter.
What about foot washing with communion? Shouldn't we do that also?

Nope. They're all gonna split hell wide open.
It's no point of contention with me.

The church we go to now (Hamilton Dream Center) practices "open communion." Nobody who comes up to take the grape juice and bread is rejected or inspected. Little children come up with their parents and take the elements back to their seats with them for the ritual. It's probably better that we use grape juice because of the little children. If we used wine, would we have to check their i.d. to see if they were old enough for alcohol and refuse to serve anyone under 21?
