Passover Celebration

Some of you viewed the Passover video. Just to let you know how interested many people are in our Jewish roots, we currently have 70+ people who will be attending out Passover Seder meal on Friday evening. Even though the actual Passover was Monday, we are observing it on Friday simply for convenience sake.

I would encourage any of you pastors to begin to study the Jewish roots of Christianity. You will be amazed at how much preaching and teaching material you will come up with, not to mention how much "oneness" material there is. If some of you desire some reading material, check out the NLC web site and go to the "Pastor's recommended reading list" http://www.newlife-church.org/reading.htm go to near the bottom of the page, and you will find a list of 11 books to get you started!

A number of these books can be found on amazon.com and some even used so you can save some of your green backs! Enjoy!!!

Personally I would rather our churches not use the word easter and instead say we are celebrating the Resurrection or "Resurrection Sunday" or even "Passover"

I was listening to a jewish person on the radio talk about Passover. I thought to myself that instead of the Easter egg hunts, etc that Passover would be a great way to celebrate the death, burial and resurrection since it's so ripe with Christian symbolism directly related to the Gospel of Christ -- the true passover lamb.

James 2
12 So whenever you speak, or whatever you do, remember that you will be judged by the law of love, the law that set you free. 13 For there will be no mercy for you if you have not been merciful to others. But if you have been merciful, then God's mercy toward you will win out over his judgment against you.

I wouldn't call it 'Christian symbolism', but yes there are plenty of Messianic references (by Messianic, I'm referring to 'pointing to the Messiah').

Yes, good point. Lead them to Christ as Messiah by showing them the symbols and how they reference Jesus.

Just for reference when dealing with Jews:

Don 't EVER use the word "convert" to a Jewish person. That is the worst word you can use when witnessing to them. To them, convert, means to forsake their heritage, history, beliefs etc. To help Jews, you need, like Paul, to talk about fulfillment. I'm not saying they don't need saved. I'm only saying that they have been taught/programmed to believe that Christians want to get them to renounce their heritage and roots.

When you look at the history of the "christian" church, it doesn't have a very good track record of treating Jews kindly or with respect. No wonder they are leary.

If you want to begin to gain the respect of Jewish people, begin by thanking them for their love and respect of God's word and for preserving it for us for thousands of years. Tell them that if there ever is another attempt at a holocaust, they won't be alone or left standing by themselves!

Shema Yisroel!!!
