The Economy Won't Improve Enough for Obama
At 10% unemployment now there is no way enough jobs will be created by 2012 to get back down below 8%. The economy at best will stay stagnate but it won't improve sigbificantly.
Obama and the Dems have violated too many fundamental economic principles. The Great Depression lasted far too long because of FDRs expansion of government and national debt. No matter what happens, if dramatic spending cuts aren't employed and the decicit continues and the national debt enlarges, we will see inflation soon. The cost of everything will increase and stagnation or a double dip recession will occur.
I'll make the prediction now as I did in 2008: Obama will be a one-term president and he'll set back the Dem party 10-15 years. His press conference today lacked any real humility. He just doesn't have it ib him to submit to the will of the people or anyone else for that matter.

Re: The Economy Won't Improve Enough for Obama
Yesterday we discovered the extent to which people learned Obama is a rookie and has no tallent. Actually the stock market does a bit better when gubment is in gridlock and neither party can binge spend on their friends.
The global economy is strong. Interest rates are low and companies have triimed inventory and do have trillions in cash. If we can get rid of uncertainty and hassles from the feds, it will grow. It will not grow enough to catch the numbers Bush left behind. Obama can't be trusted. If conservatives pick a fight early and don't cave, Obama will become a weekling quickly.
Obama thought he was a global leader. he found out not so. He thought he was all over America, Now he finds out he has some spots in New England and liberal enclaves near the ocean. The rest of the country is avoidning him.

Re: The Economy Won't Improve Enough for Obama
These are not my words, but I agree with the sentiments.
Meanwhile back in the reality-based community -- in just 12 short months -- President Obama:
• Continued to draw down the misbegotten war in Iraq (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Thoughtfully and decisively picked the best of several bad choices regarding the war in Afghanistan (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Gave a major precedent-setting speech supporting gay rights (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Restored America 's image around the globe (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Banned torture of American prisoners (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Stopped the free fall of the American economy (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Put the USA squarely back in the bilateral international community (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Put the USA squarely into the middle of the international effort to halt global warming (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Stood up for educational reform (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Won a Nobel peace prize (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Moved the trial of terrorists back into the American judicial system of checks and balances (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Did what had to be done to start the slow, torturous and almost impossible process of health care reform that 7 presidents had failed to even begin (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Responded to hatred from the right and left with measured good humor and patience (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Stopped the free fall of job losses (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Showed immense personal courage in the face of an armed and dangerous far right opposition that included the sort of disgusting people that show up at public meetings carrying loaded weapons and carrying Timothy McVeigh-inspired signs about the "blood of tyrants" watering the "tree of Liberty." (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• Showed that he could not only make the tough military choices but explain and defend them brilliantly (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
• PLUS – Just recently installed a “Consumer Protection” expert who plans to se ethat Credit Card Co.’s, Auto Dealerships, Mortgage Co.’s & Mortgage Banks do not rip you off, provide 2 – page easy to read contracts with no hidden language. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT? MORE of Bush Years Lies & Cronyism?
• Plus, the Obama Administration is now installing New Oil Drilling Regulations and a Gold Statndard that Oil Companies have to go by so the oil spill that was in the Gulf never happens tp our coasts again.
Other than those "disappointing" accomplishments -- IN ONE YEAR -- President Obama "failed"! Other than that, he didn't "live up to expectations"!

I'm not one for gay rights though-- not in the vein that this writer means it.
In other words, I am against the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell, gay adoption, yada, yada, and so on.

First thing Obama did in office was to reinstate millions for abortion funding.
Kill the parasites. Obama Reverses "Mexico City" Anti-abortion Policy
His global warming is superstition if there is such a thing.

EVERY President who has had huge midterm losses in his party has won re-election two years later. Clinton lost huge seats, for example, in his mid-term elections, and he easily won re-election. So did Truman. So did Eisenhower.
Does that fact still cause you to insist this midterm result is a clear indicator of a 2012 "in the bag" election? Really?

Good point; however, I'm not sure Obama is as politically savvy as Clinton. Making a comeback requires compromise, and he doesn't seem to like that. We'll see. Obama is in love with his own ideals, and I don't think that's going to be sacrificed on the altar of winning a second term.

Re: The Economy Won't Improve Enough for Obama
Unless the Bush tax cuts are kept in place, our economy will go no where.

This was an expectation, not an accomplishment. And he done it in the same time frame Bush laid out. Mute point.
• Thoughtfully and decisively picked the best of several bad choices regarding the war in Afghanistan (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Unh ??
• Gave a major precedent-setting speech supporting gay rights (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Woohoo.
• Restored America 's image around the globe (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Yes, among the muslims.
• Banned torture of American prisoners (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Maybe.
• Stopped the free fall of the American economy (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
LOL, NOT!!!
• Put the USA squarely back in the bilateral international community (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Accomplishment ? Really ?
• Put the USA squarely into the middle of the international effort to halt global warming (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Woohoo.
• Stood up for educational reform (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
I will "stand up" for it too, who wouldn't. But what has he done?
• Won a Nobel peace prize (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
This was a joke and you know it.
• Moved the trial of terrorists back into the American judicial system of checks and balances (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Don't agree, they are prisoners of war and should be tried in a military court.
• Did what had to be done to start the slow, torturous and almost impossible process of health care reform that 7 presidents had failed to even begin (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
I would rather it not been done than the disaster it is.
• Responded to hatred from the right and left with measured good humor and patience (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Ummm, ok.
• Stopped the free fall of job losses (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
Nope, wrong again.
"Immense personal courage"?? LOL, I would have all kinds of courage too with the security he has.
• Showed that he could not only make the tough military choices but explain and defend them brilliantly (But that wasn't good enough for his critics)
What choices ? Elaborate please ?
• PLUS – Just recently installed a “Consumer Protection” expert who plans to se ethat Credit Card Co.’s, Auto Dealerships, Mortgage Co.’s & Mortgage Banks do not rip you off, provide 2 – page easy to read contracts with no hidden language. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT? MORE of Bush Years Lies & Cronyism?
In other words, we are paying someones salary to watch out for those who cant read instead of eduacating them. (Not sure what the Bush rant was about.)
• Plus, the Obama Administration is now installing New Oil Drilling Regulations and a Gold Statndard that Oil Companies have to go by so the oil spill that was in the Gulf never happens tp our coasts again.
Great job.
Other than those "disappointing" accomplishments -- IN ONE YEAR -- President Obama "failed"! Other than that, he didn't "live up to expectations"!

Re: The Economy Won't Improve Enough for Obama
The Labor Department said Thursday that initial claims for unemployment aid rose by 20,000 to a seasonally adjusted 457,000 for the week ending Oct. 30. Wall Street analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected a smaller rise.
The economy needs to add at least 200,000 jobs a month to keep up with population growth and to help get some of the 15 million unemployed back to work.
