What is more important in business, making money or glorifying God? Both are important, but IMO making money wins by a nose! Making money to a business is equal to the importance of your heart pumping blood throughout your body. They each give you life, and without them you will eventually die. The business can survive without glorifying God, as long as they're making money!

Is it possible to be a Christian in a secular business environment without offending anyone and without compromising Biblical business principles? Yes! I never tell anyone that I'm a Christian, but I hope it shows through with my business ethics and treating the customer or client with respect.

Is it important that those you work with know that Jesus is the source of your strength?[/QUOTE] My co-workers all know that I am a Christian and live by Christian principals. I don't have to shove Christianity down anyone's throat, yet I will probably be the one they call when they need prayer or spiritual advice. My boss made me his accountability partner to make sure he runs our business with Christian principals.

Please answer the question and give a scripture that would support your view. The answers do not have to be any certain length. Thanks for your help.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 - We should do what we enjoy doing - the things that bring fulfillment to our lives. For a believer this will naturally glorify God in the process. If the money comes in, that's great. If not, then you've still led a rich and rewarding life. See also Proverbs 13:7.

Yes, however taking a "short cut" and trading in junk bond derivatives of Government backed and Government mandated mortgage debt will only lead you into trouble - Proverbs 28:20. See also Proverbs 10:23.

What is more important in business, making money or glorifying God? Glorifying God; glorify God and he will bless you in your business. "Whether therefore ye eat or drink or Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31

Is it possible to be a Christian in a secular business environment without offending anyone and without compromising Biblical business principles? Yes, it is possible to be in a secular business environment without compromising Biblical business principles. It is also possible to not offend anyone; I have been on both sides of the situation. I do not hide my faith, however, when questioned about it I am truthful; which is when some become offended.

Is it important that those you work with know that Jesus is the source of your strength? What is important is that those you work with see Christ in you. Those you are around and come into contact with should be able to see that you are different. Sooner or later it will come up what makes you so happy, why don't you get bothered by this or that....and when it does speak of the joy of the Lord; which is our strength.

I have a niece at Evangel and she has been talking about this too - perhaps the same class.
1. Both are essential to exist long term as a Christian Businessperson. Obviously one cannot be involved in a business which is unwholesome, or markets that which is at odds with the faith.
2. For the most part - yes. Most people respect integrity, truthfulness and honesty. If there is an aspect that you cannot participate in, try to recuse yourself without being preachy. I really do not feel comfortable... etc.
3. Yes, but not through words. It is far better they admire you and your principles without them feeling you are living up to a religious status you have verbally professed. When they have a need, offer an ear and a prayer and perhaps God will open doors for more serious communication.

Don't you mean He might bless you?

I don't think it's EVER possible to not offend someone, sometime, somehow.
People offend easily, regardless of your principles, you can't control how THEY react.
You may be doing the right/perfect thing, with the right/perfect motives, but that doesn't guarantee someone else's perception will be the same as yours.
