I'd seen the CBS poll claiming voters thought Obama had done better, but I wasn't sure of the validity of a CBS poll. Gallup released a poll today confirming that.
More than anything I'm surprised at the large margin in both polls. Gallup pegs it at 46% Obama and 34% McCain. It would be interesting to go in those numbers and get the "why's". I'm still not sure why anyone could declare either one the definite winner, but the polling now supports it.

Mike,
I think there are some interesting things that we need to pay more attention to or at the least weigh the factors in.
I notice something interesting in Ohio that they are calling it a 47% McCain and a 46% for Obama - yet - 68% of the people in that state are for McCain on economic growth which is the issue on the forefront behind National Security.
Then you have Pennsyvania having 54% for Obama and 53% for McCain - YET - 75% trust McCain on Security issues.
And even though many trust Obama on economic issues in Michigan they trust McCain by 19% more on National Security.
Iowa - Obama leads McCain 51% to 43% - YET - 62% believe bridging the gap between the rich and poor is more important to Obama than creating economic growth.
I think we are not going to know until November, but if I were a betting woman, I would put my money on McCain.

Hate to bump this, but my editing time expired. I wanted to fix this typo.

Even if the debate was declared a tie, the fact that Sen. Obama was not trounced in a debate that was to major on Foreign Policy speaks volumes of Sen. Obama's preparation for the debate, the real-life complexities of Foreign Policies, and how many Americans are maturing in their perspective of Sen Obama.
However, Sen. McCain did not appear to be on his "A" game-- he really didn't do as well as I expected.

Did you watch the debate? When It turned to foreign policy (with what seemed almost no time left) Obama looked like curious George and was making claims about Kissinger that were false to prop up his bad policy. People got bored and turned it off in the first hour while they played games know Obama is perceived to be better on the economy. Though how you spend yourself out of Debt is beyond me. Guess you only learn that at those Ivy league schools. Maybe he doesn't know the difference between red numbers and black numbers.

I consider them all "surface" debates. Just gauging the carriage and character. After reviewing the whole debate again, I came away seeing McCain on top.
I think the only reason it looks like a tie is because they both were warned to not appear angry. Obama as the angry black man and McCain with his temper.
Fact is, I think Sen. Obama has wisdom and I think Sen. McCain is someone who will be quicker to use U.S. troops in a way not so wise.
If Sen. McCain was President when Russia invaded Georgia, I think things would have gotten out of hand and we would be engaged in a third war.
Pres. Bush's response was measured in this case. I think Sen. Obama wold continue that style of diplomacy and leadership.
You seriously have to be kidding. McCain has been there, knows what those soldier go through. he is not reckless with going to war. Obama knows how to "Organize". Maybe he should apply for Martha Stewart's job.

I have a deal for you. If McCain/Palin win you owe me lunch. If Obama/Biden win you owe me lunch. I will be out of town the first weekend after the election but I should be back before Obama can completely ruin the economy, and I can get your lunch then.
What do you say?
