Passing The Plate Around Again.

Recently I attended a campmeeting and we had a good service.
At the close of service way after the offering had been taken, the host Pastor said we need more money for this campmeeting and took up another offering.
Should Pastors do things like this ?
What do you think about passing the plate around the offering has been taken ?
I'm not anti-Pastor or anti-leadership I have ssen this done in other places ,I wonder what people here think about such ?

I don't like passing the plate around in the first place. lol

I'd prefer to see a lock box sort of deal in the back of the sanctuary where people can put in what they feel, when they feel.

I understand ministries have needs but couldn't this put condemnation on people ?Sometimes a minister might say something like we need six more people to give 20 dollars in this offering when they pass the plate around again.

I agree. I know I could/would be MORE supportive with less pressure.

DISCLAIMER: Since many know where I go to church, I should say I don't see this as a special problem in our congregation.

Maybe they should have better planned the convention but of course there are last minute expenses that sometimes come up...I don't like to drain people.
It doesn't hurt to let the people know the needs but pressuring people is another story.

Here in the south, you hear preachers say things like you know some people come to church to enjoy the Spirit and leave their money at home.
Or yall don't mind giving spending a ten-dollar bill at Wal-Mart and then come to church and drop a dollar in the plate.

I've been in services where they pass the plate more than once...but what about this one. The pastors tells you to bring up your offering and he stands there with his hand out...now that really puts pressure on people!!
