Passing the Mantle?

I was having a conversation with someone this morning about the UPC. This topic was brought up and it got me to wondering. I do not know how to create a poll, but it may be a good poll. How many of our current ministers are sons of ministers and how many of our minister's wives are daughters of ministers. Does coming from a minister's family give a minister a different prospective on the laity? Is is an advantage or disadvantage?

Dear Blue,

It would be an intersting poll to be sure...why don't you start one? I, was born Laity, and then was in Direct Ministry as a Pastor's wife and I will say that my take on things from that perspective was a shock to my system.

Had I ever known how horrible people can be in church trouble/conflicts I would have been like David and lost hope...except God showed me their end. That is all I have to say. Had I been raised in a ministry family I would have chosen another profession sooner I imagine

Blessings, Rhoni

Would this be a good place for me to mentin that I am not wavering in my prediction that the TV resolution will fail by a clear margin at General Conference this month?

Fear will prevail.

Right now I feel the vote will be 56% - 44%
