Re: Meal prepping for the week
Quote:
This condition occurs when the body breaks down too much protein, which results in high levels of ammonia, which then become toxic.
|
This happens to people who have a preexisting issue with liver disease. I would caution the reader to notice the word in the first sentence is "suggests." Then as we go further down the article we find the next important word "theory." Can we all say hypothesis.
Quote:
Whittaker theorized that the reason why this causes low testosterone levels is that the body stops producing the hormone while it focuses on combating the protein poisoning.
|
This is talking about an already bad compromised liver. Also the ammonia is Urea, (known as carbamide) It is a naturally occurring molecule that is produced by protein metabolism and found abundantly in urine. So, where is proteins metabolized? In the liver! If you are no longer processing proteins it sure wasn't because you were eating a diet high in proteins. It is because your liver is compromised. Listen, one study which is their hypothesis is far from metanalysis, don't you think?
But then in the article we get a surprise.
Quote:
There are benefits to eating a proper amount of protein, however. These include helping the body build muscle and feeling full for longer periods of time. Also, low-carb diets have shown positive results in previous studies and can be an effective method for losing weight, providing the dieter follows a healthy diet.
|
The article let's the readers know that ketogenic diets are fine.
Good grief.

Re: Meal prepping for the week
For clarification, I'm NOT vegan, I eat a mostly plant based diet which includes occasional fish and eggs and vitamin supplements.
I think eating a Mediterranean diet would also be a good choice.

I should say everything I read and seen was 20-30grams sugar max.
Definitely not McDonald’s, but we have eat out too much the last few years. Wendy’s is my fast food of choice. Eat meat, egg, toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and usually have a meat and carbs supper.
