I remember the saying and I change it up a little. This is how I believe it:
"If people AREN'T heavenly minded they ARE no earthly good!"
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness!

Some have said if you choose to forgive, you can no longer use the right to divorce. I disagree. Sometimes people try and find their spouse not truly repentant.

Boy did I miss some crazy stuff last night and today! I am wondering just what version of the scriptures some folks are using. From oil appearing on a persone forehead, to divorce is a MUST etc. Whew!!!
BTW, did everyone see that Mary Winkler's pastor husband forced her to view porn and wear weird outfits? This story gets more sad as news comes out. I'm sure her story of abuse will get magnified, but he doesn't sound like a winner either!

Yes, I heard that and it doesn't surprise me at all - she has a very submissive, sad look about her and has from the beginning. I don't doubt it at all.

The principle of forgiveness is to forgo the right to punish. Our forgiveness should not be based on whether someone is "truly repentant" but rather the fact forgiveness releaseses strongholds those people have over us. Jesus chose to forgive people before they asked for repentance. The Bible says if we can't forgive, God won't forgive us.

I don't doubt it either; but my goodness, can't you just walk out and not KILL the man? I just don't understand how she could possibly not be convicted on this!

I think she will be convicted...but...and I'm not making excuses...BUT...if what she says is true, then I would say that simply "walking out" is much easier said than done, when a woman is IN an abusive relationship.

Exactly and someone that supressed is going to snap at some point. They mentioned that the night before he was holding his hand over the baby's nose/mouth - she might have laid there all night thinking I can't take this anymore and just snapped.

True....but I guess I just don't trust her. He's not here to make his case, so it's basically just her word against no one. Half of this stuff may be made up, including the stuff about the baby. She's had a year to get a story together! If it's true, then I feel sorry for her, but I think if she gets off with less than a murder charge, anyone in any abusive situation can just commit murder and it will be overlooked and hands slapped, but no real punishment. I think it's pretty scary.
