Re: Trump can't leave office
Has anyone ever seen the film Seven Days in May, or read the book upon which it was based?
It's about the US Joint Chiefs of Staff organizing a secret military coup against the President because of his handling of the Cold War, by creating a secret military base in the Southwest Desert and getting troops ready to take over. Basically, a shadow government operating underneath the radar until it gets exposed by some military whistleblowers. Then there's the rush for proof of who's behind it all, and a confrontation at the end, etc.
If I had to make a guess, here's what I think will happen:
President Trump will fail at all levels, including the Supreme Court, to bring about a change in the election. The Electoral College will grant Biden the Presidency. Trump will never concede, but will leave office, yet stay ever-present in the public eye, pulling strings such as he may and can, with and through as many top-level loyalists as he can.
The QAnon and WWG1WGA crowd and others will continue to think of Trump as their elected President, even while out of office. They will start calling or describing Trump as a President-in-Exile, and come to believe he is working behind the scenes to create a shadow government, a government within the government, a deep-deep state, which Trump will stay coy about, but not discourage in any way. They will come to believe Trump is some kind of political seer who had to move beyond the limitations of the office of the presidency in order to save the country from the Chinese invasion of the United States they will claim is coming.
All of which may or not be actual nonsense. But it doesn't matter, because that's not the point. The point is people will think it and believe it and propagate it and the news media will ignore it purposefully, in order to fan the flames of the ever-growing hatred of the mainstream media, while secretly weaponizing it for their own sense of power and control.
To what end?
Truthfully, to no end at all. Ever see a kid play with toys for hours and hours with no apparent end in sight, if mom or dad doesn't stop him or her until he or she falls asleep in the pile? That's the idea.

I saw the movie. Trump is a victim of a coup of a different kind than in that movie, and for different purposes. We did not really have a fair election. Trump is within his authority IMO to declare partial marshal law.

First of all, it's mar tial law.
Second, where is this authority found? Because I can't find it in the constitution...

If the roles were reversed, and people were talking about Biden instituting martial law in order to stay in office, we would be rising up en masse, and rightfully so. I don't care how much fraud there was - and I most assuredly believe it occurred - there is no justification for Trump declaring martial law over this.
If we accepted that, then we would be declaring that this experiment in freedom was over. I'm not prepared to accept that just yet.

Sadly, this experiment in freedom was over long ago.
