Re: CBS Debate Tonight!
Just learned that George Will's wife, a speech and debate prep specialist, has joined Rick Perry's team to help coach him. George said, "That is why she is there, to correct the problem."
If George Will is behind Perry, he has huge confidence in his policies and leadership.

I recommmend, Winning the Future, by Newt Gingrich. The man is extremely intelligent and has great policy ideas. He is extremely well versed with American history and knows what has and hasn't worked in the past. He knows what will work.

September 27, 1979, Newt was one of 30 Republicans who voted to create the Department of Education under President Carter. Why would any Republican who believes in a limited federal government vote to create a national Department of Education? If only Newt and 7 other Republicans had voted NO, perhaps we wouldn't have a Department of Education? Interesting note: there were more Democrats voting NO than Republicans voting YES.
It is also interesting how much the Democratic Party dominated in Texas. Also of interest is that no Republican in Texas voted YES for a Department of Education.
Newt believes in limited Government? I'm not so sure. Just recently he recommended giving Pell Grants for school choice. Pell Grants? And he wants a smaller and limited Government? I'm not so sure.

Yes, Perry did very well indeed! Newt is the flavor of the week.
Glad you enjoyed it. I watched it twice. Thought Romney didn't have as a good a night and the audience showed they weren't all in for him. Cain, of course, is very deficient on foreign policy.
I thought Bachman, big ears and all, looked very cute. Her outfit was perfect. Her voice is grating and I get tired of hearing her saying the same exact lines over and over just like Palin.

Re: CBS Debate Tonight!
BTW, I loved this passionate delivery from Perry last night in response to Ron Paul being against waterboarding.
“In 1972, I volunteered to serve the United States Air Force. And the idea that we have our young men and women in combat today . . . where there are people who would kill them in a heartbeat, under any circumstance, use any technique that they can, for us not to have the ability to try to extract information from them, to save our young people's lives, is a travesty. This is war. That's what happens in war. And I am for using the techniques, not torture, but using those techniques that we know will extract the information to save young American lives. And I will be for it until I die.”

I like Rick Perry. He has my vote at the moment. But I am very much against using torture. If it was our son or daughter sitting in a Communist or Islamic prison we would be begging God day and night for their saftey.

Ron Paul scares me! His logic has never worked and by the time he spent 4 years in the White House I would be afraid that there would be no White House!
