BTW our men and women fighting in Afghan and Iraq, are not counted in the unemployment figures. What needs to happen to fix our economy is to create more jobs in the private sector, not just shovel jobs which aren't jobs for just anyone

While on the subject, the new G.I. Bill, which was also designed by a Democrat, is awesome too! It was signed on Bush's watch, but I beleive that there were some in his Administration that may have tried to block parts of it-- I don't remember for sure.

There is a natural turn over anywhere you have jobs.

The jobs we're talking about are jobs that already existed.

It's something that he could do, an act of endearment even, to help our Veterans in a very immediate fashion.


As discussed earlier, there is so much involved in creating new jobs in th eprivate sector. No one is saying that should not happen. In fact, the new G.I. Bill will help even more Veterans become more qualified for those positions when they do appear-- a G. I. Bill designed by a Democrat.

I am saying that the President has done a lot to help Veterans in this time of economic trouble.

As a Veteran who has a Federal position, who won that positon under the "old system" I appreciate the radical change he has made in regards to ensuring that Veterans COMPETE and WIN Federal positions-- jobs that existed before and will continue to exist, whether worked by a civilian or Veteran.

He has streamlined the process for qualified Vets to apply for government positions-- eliminating the KSA's requirement and the bureaucracy surrounding that bad policy.
