Re: Act Of Faith. We Use Hands. Why Not Hair?

Does worship have a role in gaining a closer relationship with God? Does worship have a role in prayer and supplication for our deepest needs and earnest desires?

There are many ways of looking at worship in relation to prayer and its role in our intimacy with God. I don't think one answer can cover every facet of the relationship between worship and prayer.

What is the role of worship, as it relates to prayer and your intimacy with God, to you?

You are side stepping the point that I am making and I suspect, purposefully.

Yes or No.

Yes or No.
I would say yes, absolutely.

What I was getting at is that I've heard some say that worship is a form of prayer, and that prayer is a form of worship. I've also heard some say that they are rather distinct from one another. I didn't want to get into those muddy waters because I can see where each idea has merit. So, I wanted to see what it meant to you in your devotional practice.

As I said above in my addition to my post. I've heard some say that worship is a form of prayer, and that prayer is a form of worship. I don't think a debate on worship and prayer is necessary.

Maybe I'm seriously misunderstanding your point. It would appear that the Pharisee simply asked Jesus to come to his home for dinner. I don't think it was an act of supplication. In fact, no prayer might have been involved. The Pharisee may have just requested that Jesus come, blocked off time for the dinner, and awaited Christ's arrival. Nothing super spiritual in and of itself. Not to mention, it could have been a setup to try to trap or criticize Jesus. The Pharisees were always seeking to discredit Him and catch Him in some error.

Now, one can take this and wax poetic in some way and use it to "springboard" a certain thought like... "Are you willing to call on Jesus to sup with you?", pointing to some form of devotional thought, or something like that. But, that isn't expository in nature, and, in my opinion, departs from the plain meaning of the text. It would be simply sermonizing.
