Being His Hands

What does your church do to bless the community you are in?

Some churches offer hot meals to the poor daily, and others offer a meal weekly.

Some churches offer job placement services to men and women seeking gainful employment.

Other churches have some sort of program available to pay utility bills (no strings attached) for those in desperate need.

I'm curious what charitable things your church does where you are.

Re: Being His Hands

We are a small church, but we feed neighborhood children Wednesday night meals and Sunday morning breakfast during church. We don't have a fund set aside for giving, but we try to be sensitive to people's needs and let God lead us. If you advertise your giving throughout the community there is the chance you will get more publicity than you can handle. I do believe we should give till it hurts as a church and also on a personal basis.

Re: Being His Hands

We are just a small fellowship of believers meeting in our home. We don't do anything on a church-size scale, but individually, as each family ministers to needs of whoever in the community around them, helping in every way we can. Our family home is open to the neighborhood children who come several times weekly for home cooked meals. We help those in the community who are in financial need, or other need as we can. We practice giving as a way of life, and love nothing better than to give to those who can offer us nothing in return. We believe this is the true NT church way of living.
