I'm not getting involved with this except to say,
#1, A_PoMo is correct, I doubt fried food had much to do with it, his wife has always made sure that her family eats very healthy. I can remember being at Sr. Camp with one of the daughters and she was worried about her mom getting upset with her because of how she had been eating at camp. She told me a lot about how her family ate, and fried food didn't feature largely.
#2, I agree that way more gets attributed to the devil than he deserves. A lot of his "work" is actually just our mistakes and bad planning and just plain bad luck.

Very true. People like to blame the devil for every thing that ails them. Get a flat tire on the way to work and it was the devil trying to get you to lose your job. The list goes on and on.

I remember years ago, I was sitting on the platform next to the Pastor's wife and a young man was up testifying about how wonderful youth retreat was. The young man went on that, "...and the debbil* did his best to make sure we wouldn't get to youth retreat...he caused the bus to break down but we finally got there...!!!" The Pastor's wife turned to me and said, "It wasn't the debbil* we just need to get that stupid bus fixed." I just about fell out of my chair laughing.
*debbil/debol/debil etc...-I use the misspelling and mis characterization of the term of the enemy, he/it doesn't deserve even one ounce of my effort to try and get it right. Plus, I like making fun of him/it and not giving him any satisfaction of my acknowledgement. So there.

I so agree with you Carp! I believe too much attention is given to him!
Like those little old sweeties that stand up and testify "praise the Lord, the debbil's been chasing me all day"

Re: A Demonic Attack?
I think Dizzy's recent bout with 'weirdness' is a demonic attack. She tried to say it had something to do with the full moon, others attributed it to spiked coffee and OTC drug cocktails. But I think it was the debbil.

Re: A Demonic Attack?
Ok, ya'll are going to think I'm lying about this but I'm telling the God honest truth. I was at the altar praying once and heard with my own two ears the wife of said 'powerful preacher' pray against 'the spirit of chocolate' in a fat lady. She did the same thing on radio once. Is there a Snickers demon?

Re: A Demonic Attack?
This is an interesting thread insomuch as I have seen it taken to the next level where people describe illness and bad luck on a loved one as an attack on them.
Case in point, the couple from Central Wisconsin who refused to take their daughter to the doctor (who was diabetic). A simple shot would have saved her but she ended up in a coma and dead.
NOW they are claiming that her death was an attack by the devil on THEIR ministries (which are about to begin). The amount of misplaced PRIDE required to make such a statement is mind boggling!

Sad, but true. After awhile of this kind of foolishness I finally left and gave them back the pitcher of .
I remember once walking into the church office and 'catching' said preacher eating a chocolate covered doughnut from the pink box that someone had brought for us all to share. He got this deer in the headlights look on his face and I laughed and said "Dude! I'm tellin' your wife!". He dropped the half-eaten doughnut in the box and walked out. I think he thought I was serious. haha.
