It must have been that they drank so much grape juice so fast that the oxygen level in their bodies was depleted to the degree that they simply "seemed" drunk. But we no that they could not have been because the OT scriptures forbade the consumption of alcohol. Right?

I don't think so!

They didn't drink grape juice because it would have gone bad rather quickly since they didn't have a way to keep it from going bad, and lacked a fridge in every house.

It was real wine... with alcohol in it... not grape juice... which wasn't invented until after PASTURIZATION, by some guy named Welch in the 1800's... who thought drinking alcohol was sinful and wanted to correct all the 'evils' of wine at communion.

I guess I missed Sharpie's point. Ronzo was pretty much right on. The first successful attempts at canning fruit was in Napoleonic times. This was followed on by the temperance movement in America during the 1800's when:

1869 Dr. Thomas Bramwell Welch, a physician and dentist by profession, successfully pasteurizes Concord grape juice to produce an "unfermented sacramental wine" for fellow parishioners at his church in Vineland, N.J., where he is communion steward. His achievement marks the beginning of the processed fruit juice industry.

The above is quoted straight from the Welch's Grape Juice site.

And this was the question I had. Furthermore, when the obvious is acknowledged, one must ask why Paul (if he was anti-wine) did not then instruct them to stay away from that which could intoxicate.
