Thanksgiving is around the corner and I have company coming for Thanksgiving! That always makes it more special
I am thinking for having my usual cornbread dressing, ham,(SIL) sweet potato casserole (like a dessert), peas, corn, brocolli and cheese casserole, Italian Cream cheese cake, (SIL), rolls, pecan pie, and a fruit salad of some kind. And of course, cranberry sauce, and maybe giblet gravey. I have not master the latter yet.
What do you plan to serve?
I like to find a new finger food every year.
Smoky Cheese Truffles
2 (8-oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded smoked Cheddar cheese, room temperature
1 cup shredded smoked Gouda, room temperature
1 (1-lb) pkg. hickory-smoked bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup finely chopped green onion
1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
1 sleeve round buttery crackers, crushed
1. In medium bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheeses, bacon, green onion, and seasoned salt. Beat at medium speed until well combined. Cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours. 2. Shape cheese mixture into 1-inch balls. Roll in cracker crumbs to coat. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Don't know what to think about this one! Prunes? LOL!
Devils on Horseback
8 slices bacon, cut into thirds
24 prunes, pitted
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil. Wrap bacon pieces around prunes and secure with toothpicks. Bake on sheet until bacon is browned, about 15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Serve warm.

What about substituting with pitted Dates?
Are you going to try this one?

Yes, I think I will. I am curious as to the choice of prunes, sounds interesting. I have some dates in the pantry and so I will try them as well. I'll pick up some prunes next week and let you know.
I found this recipe that uses dates and cheese. I already know I would like it better. Any appetizer that is quick and easy is good for me!
Devil's on Horseback
24 large dates, pitted
12 slices bacon, halved crosswise
1/3 cup crumbled Stilton cheese (type of blue cheese)
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place 24 toothpicks in a small bowl filled with water; let soak 15 minutes. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and fit with a wire rack; set aside.
2. Halve dates lengthwise being careful not to cut all the way through. Place a small amount of cheese in the center of each date. Wrap a piece of bacon around each date. Secure bacon with a toothpick.
3. Place dates on prepared baking sheet. Bake until bacon is cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes.
Thinking about BBQ. We already had our Thanksgiving celebration.
