Once-a-Month Cooking
The wonder of the Once-a-Month Cooking method is that it makes it possible for families to more often and more easily connect around a table over a tasty, nutritious, economical family meal. Authors Mimi Wilson and Mary Beth Lagerborg first shared their concept with Focus on the Family listeners in 1992, and it became an all-time favorite broadcast.
We recently visited with Mimi and Mary Beth in Mary Beth's kitchen, where they got an apron on broadcast host Chris Fabry and involved him with this method of preparing a month's (or two weeks') dinner entrees at once and freezing them.
You can go to www.family.org for more information and sample of recipes.
Has anyone here ever tried to cook a month in advance?

I haven't.
My former pastor's wife and another lady I know used to do this. They were busy working full time in our church school and they prefered this.

Just some notes I took:
Cooking for 30 days
1. Label with name and temp to cook and length of time.
2. Use Sharpie to write on package.
3. Fix all the chicken dishes at one time, etc.
4. Make a list of what to cook
5. Make a list for shopping
6. Freeze in vacuum seal or Tupperware
7. Two sets of measuring cups, one for dry and one for wet
8. Chop everything first

There are a couple places here that you can go to and they have all the ingredients for main dishes. You choose if you want to make up for two or four and put everything in containers and freeze.
When you are ready for the meal, you just thaw and have a meal ready to back. I've done it a couple times - - you do it as a party of friends and go home with 6 meals for around $75 (meals for two people) - - not bad at all.

That would be about 6.25 per meal. Not bad.

I am considering doing this for my Mom and Dad for Christmas.
They don't have need of anything, and both of them are not in good health.
Plus she has a restricted diet.

Go to www.family.org, then click on daily broadcast.
That should help.
Let me know if not.
