While the "private contractors" were paid how much to do whatever they were doing? Even if their "mission" was legitimnate the inequity was maddening.

Of course the comapnies that prospered most had connections to that Administration (formal or informal.)

Fact is, the buck stops with Bush, in my mind because as President, the economy took its turn for the worst while he was still in office. The buck always stops witht the President-- or it should.

I agree that the spending on the war was way too much and being spent in the wrong places. You say the buck stops with the Prez, but you can see by this admin. that is clearly doesn't. Bush, nor any Prez, can get something off the ground without the help of these branches. Was Bush perfect? No way. Was he a good Prez..I think so. He had to deal with something that no one ever has in this countrys history. A terrorist threat beyond anything we have ever seeen, a terroist attack of epic proportion on our own soil, trying to make sure it didn't happen again, etc. the list keeps going.

I am not saying that 100 year down the road the country will look back and say the GWB was a great American Prez like it does fro Lincoln and others. But Lincoln was didn't have a great approval after ending slavery which lead to his murder. If in 100 years this country remembers GWB for being a great Prez it wouldn't shock me. We look at Lincoln and say he was a great leader for how he dealt with what he was handed. Bush was handed something that no one ever imagined would happen. It is hard to see it now, but I think that Bush will end up being looked at as a good Prez. I could be wrong, but I wonder what we would have thought back in Lincoln's day?

I know it hasn't been two years yet.

She just shouldn't have made the statement-- job creation is dependent on so many other factors other than the passing of a law, even one as dramamtic as the historic Healthcare Reform Act.
Not sure exactly how long it has been, but I can tell you she is a good politician...over promising..under delivering. IMO.

Clinton lied.
Clinton did lie. But we can only say that looking back at it. At the time the only person that knew he lied was Monica and himself. Pelosi said these remarks in fairly recent history not nearly 10 years ago.

Nevertheless, in THIS CASE, the burden here is to define what SHE meant by, "ALMOST immediately."

Maybe she was throwing a Christian referrence.

A day with the Lord is as a thousand years, right?

Bottom line, she did not say or imply, immediately.

Immediately was one of her words.

What I mean is this.

Clinton KNEW he was lying as he was lying.

In this situation, it would be impossible to prove that Pelosi is lying.

At best, she was being optimistic.
At worst, she made a mistake in her calculations.

Again, so much is involved in the creation of jobs.

She did not lie in this case-- but she just should not have said it at all.

Re: 67K New Priv Sec Jobs, -121K Gov Jobs!

The decison to invade Iraq and Hurricane Katrina will ALWAYS taint GWB's presidency.

The current economic downturn will be forgotten, eventually.

To his credit, things did not get as bad as they could have BECAUSE of his actions.

Ok, now I understand!

Id rather thank the employers for the private sector jobs. You can thank Obama for raising your taxes and increasing inflation in order to create those gov jobs..BTW how many of them are permanent jobs and not some temp job like censes takers or IRS auditors?

Oh,while Im at it, It occurred to me that most of the jobs that were targeted for creation by our tax dollars were low paying shovel jobs..
