I have even been called to come pick my son up at chilis one night because the guy he rode with was listening to some pretty rough stuff and his exact words were "Mom it wasnt right in my spirit and it made me SICK to listen to it" and he refused to turn it off so I refused to ride further.
You are blessed! My son's entire 5th grade class plays the song that was mentioned earlier. It amazes me too because the parents like the songs as well. Oh, and they are white folks.

I am blessed and I had heard the song... My nephew listens to it all the time but he has been informed its not allowed here nor any type like it... he has finally started leaving his ipod at home just to not make me upset.

Re: Music and kids

With my daughter it was always about the lyrics, I never made any style of music unacceptable, but we did talk a lot about the lyrics and I never had a problem with her listening to anything objectionable. Actually, she is 20 now and the music that she probably listens to the most is classical.

The main thing is to be rational, and involved. With teenagers especially the biggest piece of advice I can give anyone is pay attention. To everything.
