Missionary kids

We had a missionary family visiting in church last night. They are going to Sudan, in fact they will be the first UPC missionaries there. They have two boys, 11 and 14, and a daughter, I think she's around 16. What do you think about bringing kids to a place like that, after all it is a Muslim country with all kinds of violence going on. I don't know if I would bring my kids, if I had any.

I would not be bringing the kids, although I think it's courageous of the parents to go.

I don't know....my hubby was raised in the jungles of Africa. Not too safe there, but God called them, and he survived. I guess God gives you grace for the situation. He never calls you to something that He doesn't equip you for.

Given today's anti-American anti-Christiam climate in the minds of Islamic radicals in Africa...especially Sudan, I'd be a little more concerned than in the past

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

True, Sudan is a pretty scary place. The very reason we cancelled our trip to the southern Philippines this year was the islamic terrorist activity on that particular island. But I guess if God truly called them, then He will protect them. Where we travel in Africa is a bit scary, but nothing like Sudan.
