Did you see Steve Martin in his movie where he played a healing evangelist several years ago? I don't remember the name of the movie.

It was called "Leap of faith". That's been so long ago I don't even remember if it was any good or not.

Does anyone know who they voted in to that position?

It isn't I,
but then,
I haven't been a member of the ALJC since 1978 or so.

Yeah I saw it. I though it was very funny at times and then very serious. The moral of the story is that Faith over rides mans ability. With the the drought they were having in the movie it goes to show that man can God's miracles.

I heard that the ALJC passed a resolution asking the last one standing to turn out the lights before they moved to the UPC.

I really wonder why the ALJC has not grown and has had so many defections to the UPC in recent years.

You would think that the ALJC's stance on TV would be an attraction for UPC preachers / churches that want to utilize TV while still maintaining a strong PAJC perspective and association.

CC1, you present a great question. Since I attended an ALJC chuch I have alittle bit of knowledge here. The ALJC has grow alot, but they also subtract alot too. You mention that there is alot of defection to the UPC from the ALJC. I am sure there are several reasons, but I will list a couple I have heard. First, since the UPC is the largest of the oneness orgs and are notorious at only having "in company" preachers do their conferences and etc some of the ALJCers want to move to the UPC to broaden their scope of churches to preach at. Second, in alot of area there are only UPC churches and not many ALJC churches to fellowship.

One reason why I think there has not been many defections to the ALJC is that for alot of the UPC they are quietly taught the ALJC is the ugly duckling or the "non-conformist." So when they do leave the UPC they just go independant so they can now set their own rules. The ALJC is more conservative that alot of people think. Other than oking the tv stuff some of the ALJC churches are more conservative than some UPC churches. Some people that may deside to leave the UPC may just be sooooo feed up with organizations that they just want to stay away altogether.

It is easier for the upci to raid other organizations than start their own works in those cities. In the state next to ours they raided an aljc church because the pastor was more conservative the pastor at the original upci church.

The aljc church my parents attend is part of the vicious disgruntled saints department. Well over half of their church growth comes from saints from other area churches. Come to think of the only church experiencing biblical growth is the church who is labelled 'liberal'.

RAIDED!?!?!? This post suggests that the UPC is some sort of Guerilla army.

Did they pillage the church? Take anyone as slave labor? I didn't think so.

I think that the wording in the post needs revision.
