Lots of them are that way in the midwest, had a pastor tell me one day that he discourages the use of the gifts, he pastors in the KC area.

Said it in the middle of a TBC Bible class.

They have energetic services, but not a real move of God.

Nobody gets healed, nobody gets transformed, but they do preach against hair bows though!

I came from a very conservative formerly PAW and currently independent church. They were/are known for frowning on the gifts of the spirit being used, so much so that the "younger" generation had to leave and see certain things happen at a yearly retreat just to experience basic things like prophecy and interpretation of tongues. Granted, it was mostly in response to some serious abuse of prophecy in the church's past, but it is a real problem. Sometimes we really do throw the baby out with the bathwater with these things.
