Our faith must be in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Faith in our being good or not sinning is worthless.
Of course, when I really believe that I am saved by faith, there becomes a natural outflowing of good works. If our view of who we are in Christ is clear, we become more and more confident in doing what is right and good.
Condemnation for our sin causes a break down of our faith in our salvation, so it can become a vicious cycle. Key is to keep our focus on WHO we are in Christ, and allow that knowledge and confidence to produce His goodness in us.

Yeah, and I don't get to choose what to have faith in based on what makes sense, and what works. Got it.
What a crock. No one, God included, is forcing you to have any faith, you might notice. You are supremely alone in deciding what to have faith in, Timmy, and are not rejected by Scripture for rejecting any religious dogma you see fit; 'seek your own salvation.' You aren't even rejected by AFF! So all that 'i don't get to choose' yack is just that, and came from ? ('some guy')

well, please pardon me, but i id with you, and it gets wearying reading you being deliberately so obtuse after having discovered such a precious truth about religion. i tend to associate the one with the other, when i obv should not.

Obtuse? Seriously? I wasn't addressing you or your beliefs (which are another story altogether), but the very commonly held view that I literally cannot base what I should have faith in based on what makes sense to me and what works for me.
But you should (and likely won't) admit that it has Biblical support (simply by using the Bible in the same way you do -- by making it agree with you). Lean not on your own understanding. (It doesn't have to make sense. And it doesn't. Not to me.) If anyone brings you another gospel, let them be accursed. (Follow our "gospel" and not anyone else's.)
And does it work? Well, that's a tough one. If I think it doesn't work (e.g., if I think I don't have peace, or a sound mind), I'm either wrong or there is some reason it doesn't work. Strings attached or whatever -- I've been given lots of reason. It all boils down to me not doing it right, or not deserving it, or what have you.
Obtuse? Oh, the irony. This coming from the one who said my brother deserved to die.

that it's a lie--that all the things Isaiah, Christ, et al said about religion, you have discovered to be true. Not a huge leap, really, i think many or most 'atheists' have just done that. and i don't think i ever said your brother deserved anything? i may have put it out there as a possible, but i'm finding that even hard to imagine. that video is made for you, T, imo.
