That plants a seed of doubt in peoples minds that should not be there and of course that 2/3 figure will stick in some peoples head and become a "fact" even though it is not true.

This seems akin to the Democrats tactic of believing that if they repeat some outrageous lie enough times people will believe it is fact.
I agree that his numbers were off by quite a bit. My only reason for posting was the "Shining Star" quote you used. Great good has been done through the missionaries of the UPC.......................................

Even if they bring everyone into bondage with their Standards message. And that ending is definitely TIC.

I personally feel that the conservative ministers are just very frustrated because so much is changing (Only time will tell if the changes are for better or worse), and feel like they are no longer being heard by HQ. In their frustration to be heard, many are diverting funds from HQ and sending them directly to the source, or using sources like the IAM that takes no percentage out of the funds.

Is this right? I don't know all the ends and outs of the organization, so I don't know. But maybe a revolution is in order for this to come to a head and be dealt with.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut it is not so much the conservatives, but Moderates all up in arms!

% of the SFC offering stays in the Local District to fund District Events like Camps, Retreats, and Conferernces.

These are the areas hurt by withdrawal of SFC offerings.
Bump to bring the discussion back to topic.

(Or try to)

It truly is sad that Lighthouse Ranch, Tupelo, etc. etc. etc. will have to suffer BECAUSE OF THE BAD DECISIONS OF THE LEADERSHIP (I.E. HAZLEWOOD) OF THE UPCI... not the local pastors who disagree with the direction of the organization. I know pastors, who instead of routing their monies through UPCI foreign missions (and having about 2/3 taken out for "administrative costs") are sending their monies directly to the missionaries themselves, and they are receiving 100% of the money, instead of just 1/3.... Also, pastors can support Lighthouse Ranch and Tupelo directly without having to route their money through Hazlewood. What the local pastor are trying to do is withold support the worldly agendas of hazlewood moneygrabbers and displays of carnality as seen at NAYC...

I think the issues that are really seeming to fire up a lot of folks (not me cause I'm not UPC) is 2 fold.

1. They promoted the girl that does the voice of Dora which is a tv show, which the UPCI bylaws still do not endorse.

2. They had a group that did the "steppin" dancing, which many felt was too worldly.

Overall, the sentiment seems to be that the Youth event was an open show of rebellion against the bylaws of the org, and HQ is sitting on their hands. About the same thing they are doing here in TN over the tv issue. I do not know every Pastor in TN, but I can easily say that 1/3 of those in eastern TN watch dvd's of your nightly soap opera's (CSI, 24, etc.)
