Maybe it is time to move on?

It seems this forum is slding very quickly into an antigonistic forum to Pentecostal doctrine in general with the remarks of Jesus being a magic name and the defence of the statement I feel uncomfortable with this. I ahve never threatened and this is not a threat. I am going to cease from posting for a season I might lurk. But I am beginning to doubt if I should be here. The what I see as 'hatred' toward Pentecost is general is becoming more and more open and vicious. Maybe this will become an ex-Pentecostal site where disgruntles can cast stones at the womb that gave them birth. Healthy and heated discussions are one thing but this continual and more and more aggressive posts which are laden with anti-Pentecostalism is general is becoming more than I can bear. It is becoming harder to leave these asaults at the computer I do not want to carry them with me. I pray for each of you that seem to have been hurt beyond repair that somewhere the God of Heaven will heal your hurts and wounds that you might again be restored to the Apostolic fatih. This could very well be my last post on this forum. So farewell in case I don't return.

My sentiments exactly. I often scan threads here and more and more there is an overwhelming mockery of things I hold godly. I doubt that I will even stop to read anymore--much less post.

The dynamic you are experiencing is similar to the frustration I was feeling last night. There are times when only a handful of people are on the forum and those handfuls are of the same ilk, so they create post after post after post and thread simply piling on agreeing with one another. Conservatives and liberals do the same thing.

I was told something just yesterday by a Pastor that YOU know, and it shocked me. The confusion on my face caused him to say it a second time, and frankly I am still trying to reconcile it.

He said, "The word of God is not God." I understand having a knowledge of scripture and lack the power behind it, but he was almost relating that the spirit is stronger than the word. It was pretty scary in fact, because I was lamenting that kids nowadays have no knowledge of scripture. He was saying it is more important that these kids have a more spiritual conscience than a conscience toward the word.

People say all kinds of dumb stuff...let them, but don't deprive those of us who drink in and absorb what you have to say, and choose to argue once in a while on the basis of scripture.

Certainly not pointed at Brother Epley, but if we are unable to face and stand up to the challenge of our beliefs and faith, then we are infidels and our beliefs are nothing more than superstitions.

I will stand up to anyone making a challenge to what I believe. It hones my apologetic skills, and in the end result I just may learn something about what I believe and fortify what I choose to call truth or falicy.

I have no problem with folks tossing frilly beliefs left and right, but I also reserve the right to stand as Paul stood in the face of Peter when Peter was in the wrong.

...and I am going to keep bumping this until Brother Epley responds to it.

me too!! Bro Epley, we may not always agree - and I'll be honest and tell you that way back in FCF days, I wasn't even sure I could ever like you! But I've learned so much from you and I grown to love and appreciate you more than I ever thought possible. I'm still not ready to swing your direction. But you have definately influenced my thinking in some ways I didn't think could ever be again. Hang around. You might be making more of a difference than you know. Who knows - God could be using you and you aren't even aware of it.

Elder Epley, the problem is that many do not have the revelation of Jesus name nor do many have a revelation of the work of God which in my opinion is necessary for one's soul salvation. Elder Ray Strange and I were talking the other day and he also has decided not to post any more on various forums as well as this one...As for me, I simply do not have the time for extended discussions. Brother Strange told me that he believes that this board is a good cross section of Pentecostals throughout America...If he is correct in his belief, then it is a sobering thought indeed...

My statement to him was that many were no doubt helped by his postings and wisdom...May I offer the same word of encouragement to you as many do not have the years of experience nor the wisdom that God has imparted to you...The body of Christ needs instructors in righteousness...What is the chaff to the wheat?
