We have to be grounded and rooted on the Bible, not on what a denomination teaches.

That is why we need to study the Bible and really understand what it really teaches.

Many years after I became a Christian I am still standing as one, even though in the Real world and the Virtual world (Forums, chat rooms, e-mail),
I have been attacked by Atheists, Agnostics, Morons, Jehovah's witless, 7th day adversaries and regular "Christians", Yet I have not fallen down.

I believe the Acts 2:38 message even more than when I first begun this walk and that is because I studied every day the Bible, early on I even had marathon 12 hours straight Bible study. (8:00 am to 8:00 pm) nonstop.

The point is that our faith needs to be based on what the Bible really says, not on what someone teaches it says.

Re: Believing in a Lie

PreacherMe... I first found AFF at a time in my life when I was questioning the whole gambut of the standard issue myself. I too am a third generation Pentecostal, mine and my husband's family are all Oneness Pentecostal, and we have several ministers in our immediate family.

That being said, growing up OP, I had studied all the holiness standard scriptures, and never questioned them. Holiness was never an issue for me, and I am a woman. Yes, the standards do tip the scales in the woman's direction, but even at that, I never questioned them.

You are probably asking, what happened? Well, I began a time of serious fasting, and prayer, and asking the Lord if there was more than what I had. I was hungry for more of Him, and less of myself. As I spent time fasting and praying, I began reading scriptures as if I had never seen them before. The Lord began to open things to me that I had read all my life, and yet never really understood.

I happened upon AFF during such a time. Much of what is posted here is in fun, and it is more of a community than anything, but, there are still things you can learn from other points of view, which challenge your own, and cause you to search it out for yourself.

I hope that if you are really, truly hungry for more of the Lord, and more understanding than you have now, that you will turn to the Lord with all your heart in fasting, and prayer, and ask the Lord Jesus to guide you, and help you. You won't find your answers here, or anywhere else, if you don't spend time on your own knees with your own bible, and begin pushing back the plate.

Ultimately, Ferd is right, even if I may be trying to say it in a different way. The answers you are searching for won't be found on this forum. They will be found when you seek after the Lord with all your heart, and determine in your mind that the Word of God is the final answer in your life, and that as HE leads, you will follow.

God Bless You Brother!

First of all I don't believe that I am saved, I KNOW THAT I AM! I have an assurance in my salvation! Secondly, I have been baptized in Jesus name according to Acts 2:38 but that's not what saved me, I am saved by Grace through Faith, Not by a work. And third: You don't even know me at all, you have no idea what fruit I bare. Last time I checked your name was not Jesus and you don;t sit on the throne so thank you for your judgmental comment but it means nothing at all, I will trust in Jesus and I will make Heaven my Eternal Home.

If you end up turning in your credentials, don't have the misguided belief that God doesn't want to use you Preacher. There is plenty labor out there for the Lord outside of UPC ... Plenty.

Hey. You know I still have my little missellette from my first holy communion. I dated it back then May, 1965....48 years ago! My scapula and St. Christopher metal has long been tore up.
