Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
March 1, 2015
Which Republican presidential candidates support amnesty?
Ted Cruz: Ted Cruz is the only major candidate who has never supported or endorsed amnesty.
- End Obama's illegal amnesty via Congress' checks & balances. (Nov 2014)
- Defund amnesty, and refuse any nominees until rescinded. (Nov 2014)
- No path to citizenship for 1.65 million illegals in Texas. (Oct 2012)
- Give police more power to ask about immigration status. (Jun 2012)
- Boots on the ground, plus a wall. (Apr 2012)
- Triple the size of the Border Patrol. (Mar 2012)
- Strengthen border security and increase enforcement. (Jul 2011)
He's resolute, he's firm, he's good on most of the other issues... What more could you want?

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
We actually, with the number one incarceration rate in the world, do not need to triple the size of anything. We need smaller, not big bloated, government. Though we all realize that the days of the statue of liberty are over we dont need a Berlin Wall either. Next. He should run for office in Israel. They live to pack undesirables in walled and barbed wired camps and use basic necessaties to control them. Come to think of it maybe a few of you more fascist followers of his should move there too. Watch out for the bulldozers.

Re: Sen. Ted Cruz Makes It Official
Great article to revisit on the issue of the government shutdown blamed on Ted Cruz.
Quote:
No Change In Ted Cruz 2013 Story
Of note? Also in that Cruz speech to The American Spectator he predicted that Harry Reid had made a serious strategic mistake in forcing his Democratic caucus to play hard ball in defense of Obamacare. He quite specifically said that the fall of 2014 would be flooded with commercials from GOP candidates assailing Democratic senators for their role in refusing to back down from supporting Obamacare. In fact, that is exactly what happened, with the GOP winning 9 Senate seats and taking over the Senate majority. As is often noted these days the GOP is at its strongest point in Congress since 1928.
This last point that Cruz made is important to understand precisely because so many Republicans were out there at the time predicting disaster for the GOP because of the Cruz-led shutdown. I noted last fall that over at the far-left Think Progress there was this headline on September 30, 2013 as the shutdown was about to take place. The headline read:
49 Republicans Who Say Shutting Down The Government Over Obamacare Is A Big Mistake
It is a priceless example of what passed for Establishment GOP thinking at that moment, filled with one quote after another from those who were insisting this Cruz strategy would prove to be a disaster for the GOP in the 2014 elections. One prominent Republican after another – In the Senate, the House, the punditocracy and more – predicted utter disaster. Names like Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mitt Romney, Chris Christie, Paul Ryan, Peter King, John McCain, Orrin Hatch, Karl Rove and more. Charles Krauthammer called Cruz and those who followed him “the suicide caucus.”
What is instructive here is not just how wildly wrong all of these people were – and how accurate Cruz was – but that even at this moment the timidity of the GOP Establishment is on display yet again on the issue of defunding the Obama’s amnesty.

Former CEO of GE, Jack Welch, says he is really attracted to Ted Cruz
At the 3:32 mark.
"I'm attracted right now to Ted Cruz. I think he says what he will do and he does it. He's strong willed. He's for free markets. He's for strong defense. He's a very smart guy. Extremely smart. You saw his rollout, and he's intriguing me a lot more every day."

Sen. Cruz: I Cannot Support the Boehner-Pelosi ‘Doc Fix’ Bill
We need real entitlement reform
April 14, 2015
|
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas today released the following statement regarding legislation to address the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula, also known as the ‘doc fix':
"While I appreciate the work done by my colleagues in the House, I cannot support the Boehner-Pelosi bill, which institutionalizes and expands Obamacare policies that harm patients and their doctors while adding roughly half a trillion dollars to our long-term debt within two decades. The so-called ‘SGR' is a flawed approach that needs to be eliminated, but doing so should be a catalyst for real entitlement reform. Any deal should be fully paid for and include significant and structural reforms to Medicare that provide seniors more power and control over their health care."

CRUZ: More of Americans’ hard-earned wages should be able to stay in their wallets
04/15/15
Releases statement on Tax Day
HOUSTON, Texas — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement marking Tax Day:
“Tax day is upon us again. But this year it’s different. This year, on top of the frustrating reminder that Americans are giving too much of their income to fund too many wasteful government programs, families are now being forced to pay the Obamacare tax for the first time.
“Instead of government-run healthcare that increases taxes, limits options, and puts the government between patients and their doctors, imagine a free-market system that enables healthcare to be personal, portable and affordable. Instead of a tax code that crushes innovation and inflicts burdens on families struggling to make ends met, imagine a simple, flat tax that lets Americans fill out their taxes on a postcard. Imagine a tax code that is simple enough to abolish the IRS.
“More of Americans’ hard-earned wages should be able to stay in their wallets so they can be free to invest more in their families and businesses, not in growing big government.
“Tax reform is crucial to reversing our current economic stagnation, sparking economic growth, and expanding opportunity. I’m running for President because I believe that together, we can make D.C. listen, we can repeal Obamacare, we can implement fundamental tax reform, and we can restore our nation as a place that champions prosperity and opportunity for all.”
