I agree!

Re: The Office of Pastor

I have only read a few posts, so please forgive me if I am lost. I Like dlaw930's statement (about the ministry building the church, not using the church to build a ministry)

The way I was taught many moons ago was that God calls people to various ministries within the church - funny thing is, over the years when a decent size church is looking for a new Pastor, there is a line a mile long for the position??

I remember thinking...."Did God call this whole line of folks?" Then I realized that some (most) were not called to it at all but obviously had "other" motives - guess you live and learn!

God may not have called any of them, lol. The one He called may not have even had his "phone" turned on!

Actually, I believe that when a person desires to serve the Lord, and is called to preach the gospel, there are many places they could go, and God would sanction it.

But, you are absolutely correct, there are many who seek the office of pastor for different reasons, although I'd much prefer to believe that most seek it for the proper reasons.

Re: The Office of Pastor

Funny you should say that...I believe he did have his phone on and his heart opened, but some others did not dial the number....

I was also taught to seek out what the Lord was blessing, rather than asking God to bless what I am doing...well soething like that!

I also want to believe in the purest of motives behind ministry (although I am reminded that our righteousness is really just filthy rags) sometimes filthy with that which we can see, and then sometimes filthy with that which can't be seen...

Sis. Alvear,

I see that you are using the King's English - herein lies another common problem of today because many Pastors across the board have traded theirs in for the more modern versions. What say ye?
